There was dust here, layers of dirt coating the unused furniture, but some time ago, the dust melted away. The couches began to look new again. The kitchen cupboards replenished themselves and the plothole in the closet began spinning once more ( Read more... )

This is distinctly not where Vincenzo meant to end up, but he doesn't seem to mind -- it's a nice enough day, this is a familiar enough place, and he's been chasing a four year old for long enough today (though said four year old is now deposited safely with his grandmother) that any place he can collapse onto a couch and breathe will be welcome -- and so that's where anyone else who happens to arrive will be able to find him.

Which means that, naturally, it won't be long until his wife (and the novelty of being able to say that, contrary to all of her expectations, still utterly and thoroughly delights her) finds him, unceremoniously flopping down next to him and making a great show of looking around him. "What -- do my eyes deceive me? Are you actually unaccompanied by the tiny demon for once?"

She means it lovingly, really -- while it did take her quite a while to get used to being anyone's maternal figure, she's extremely fond of Arthur.

He beams at her -- there will never come a day when he isn't overjoyed to see his wife, or think of her as such, or think of her at all -- and pokes her side. "You're hallucinating, obviously," he says cheerfully. "You know I don't ever get a moment away from him." This is not said as if he minds at all; he loves his son.

Her eyes widen dramatically at that. "You mean he's learned how to turn invisible? Dear god, that's all we need. He's already difficult enough to keep up with." No one had better tell April that Arthur is probably a relatively calm four-year-old. She is not exactly great with kids, though she's doing her best.

Xathanael can hardly resist that pull, and he doesn't try. Who knows what wonders could be awaiting in this place where so much madness went down on such a regular basis?

Believe it or not, he's mellowed out a little with age, so he just strolls in with his hands in his pockets rather than practically hopping in as he might have before. Still, there's a huge grin on his face as ever, and he still has headphones around his neck; one can hear music emanating from them faintly if one leans in close. "Where is everyone?"

"Behind you," Brynne intones solemnly, from which position she's placing both hands over Xathanael's eyes. "Quick, to release yourself from my clutches, you must answer me these questions three. What -- is your name? What -- is your quest? Who -- is the most awesome girlfriend-slash-roommate you've ever had in your life?"

Xathanael jumps a little, but of course recognizes her voice instantly and holds obediently still. He pretends to think about the questions before answering: "Xathanael Poe 'Awesome' Hades. To... be even more awesome, if that's humanly possible. And I have to say this weird girl named Brynne, even if she's the only girlfriend-slash-roommate I've ever had so by default she's also the most gross and terrible."

"Oh, well, if that's the case," she says rather huffily, releasing him and scowling at the back of his head, "you can damn well sleep on the couch tonight, you insensitive monster." Followed by turning enough to kiss his cheek and grin at him. "'Weird' is the least of it, silly."

Dio doesn't walk in so much as appear, sprawled across one of the couches with a look of trepidation on his face. He's not entirely sure it's a good idea to come back here, but he hasn't talked himself out of it yet, anyway.

So: Diomedes Hades, skeptical but willing to give this place another shot. It's possible those who knew him only here might take a moment to recognize him, because-- contrary to the icons-- he's no longer dying his hair, and it's left as its natural color of reddish-brown. Either way, there are some people he'd be happy to see.

"Fancy seeing you here." April leans over the back of the couch, absently playing with a few strands of Dio's hair (it's likely been a while, but the natural color is still a distinct novelty, especially as their brother has most certainly not stopped dyeing his own). "Have you ever considered going blond?" This (or some variation on it, with different colors) is likely something she's been floating ever since he went back to the natural color.

Dio just laughs a little, smiling and tilting his head back slightly to direct it at her. "Do you really think I wouldn't look awful as a blond? Seriously imagine it for a second, April." Even the relatively insignificant act of deciding to stop coloring his hair was, for Dio, kind of a big deal.

"You're right, you would," she says, sounding totally unrepentant. "I'm just working out my grand master plan to be the only one of you lot with perfect hair. How are things?" she adds, releasing Dio's hair after giving it an affectionate ruffle.

No, Tan hasn't gotten any less cranky. Or at least not significantly so.

He sighs in irritation, glancing around. "This place again?"

"What's wrong with this place?" Joffy asks, grinning because a) she needs no reason and b) Tan is her second-favorite brother-in-law (that's pretty much entirely because there's no competition, though). Without waiting for an answer, she turns her attention to six-month old City. "Say hi to Uncle Tantalus, Felicity." City blows a spit bubble at him, but she's also smiling at least as much as her mother is.

He rolls his eyes. "She remains as excellent a conversation partner as her father."

Joffy rolls her eyes right back at him and has clearly given it up as a lost cause to defend Rhad's honor to his brother. "She's a baby, Tan. She'll learn to talk soon enough." For now, though, City is just babbling nonsense at her uncle and maybe reaching out for him.

Jordan is not terribly surprised to find himself back here, least of all while he's carrying his guitar; it just seems to be the way things go, sometimes (and when one regularly travels between worlds, after all, it's really difficult to be too surprised by things like this). So he's more than happy to just sit down in a corner and begin absently plucking at the strings, improvising melodies and then figuring out ways to string them together. He's anticipating being found, possibly even by someone new, because that usually seems to be what happens here.
