I just got back a beta'd fic from and it never fails to amaze me how she manages to still (a) love me and (b) still have a well of patience for my mistakes

I echo what babs said and you're obviously willing to keep learning. Jo's a terrific beta and you guys are like a well oiled machine and out of that comes wonderful fic.
Ooh, sounds intriguing! Can't wait to read! And I'm sure you're a better writer than me since I'm a chicken s*it and can't even bring myself to get a beta reader to read my stuff. I've always found it easy to write from the first person POV of Sarah Connor since she's such a fascinating and complex character.
"Red" ink on a fic is writer's blood, yes? Through the torture, the pain and suffering, the endless revisions comes a marvelous fic worthy of such a great writer. Oh, and the practice part? That's a practice in humility, patience, understanding, effort, friendship.... Need I go on? ;-) I'm waving the pompoms for both you and your angelic beta. Keep up the great work, kids!
Yay for Jo! Betas are a blessing in a writer's life. And it's not just picking up the typos or missing words but the sensible advice when a sentence doesn't sound right or you have a plothole big enough to drive a truck through. And my beta, Annie, is great for brainstorming with when I think my story has hit a brick wall or I seem to be going in circles. There used to be a Beta Appreciation Day years ago. Maybe it should be revived.
