As some of you might have known (or felt), Thom's been working on something for the past few months. To be precise, this 'something' involved opening a portal from the Mansion to Tortall's Immortal Realms, because Thom thought it would be quite interesting to study these immortals. In any case, a bit of the spell went wrong, and now there's a ( Read more... )

*felt Thom's magic stirring and went looking for him* *he chances the hurroks as he looks, surrounding himself with enough of his Gift that the immortals stay away* *when a curious young hurrok comes forward, he reaches out with his gift, scorching the creature's rump* *when the young one's family darts forward to defend their young, he sighs and waits, keeping his shield up with gritted teeth* *When the get before and move away, he continues to look for Thom*

*glancing at the hurroks* It went wrong. It wasn't supposed to end up this way...

Galwyn unfortunately doesn't live in the mansion, he's been staying with Percy. Now he's riding toward the mansion and Ravus stops, rearing a bit, spooked by something. He looks over and sees the hurroks and stares, he's never seen anything like it. There is no magic in his world. He pats Ravus reassuringly and tries to move away silently, he doubts that his knife will be much defense against those claws if they decide to attack.

*thankfully, here's Raoul, who's used to fighting these things, coming up behind Galwyn with a longbow and a quiver of arrows* *quietly* Get out of the way. Don't make any sudden movements.

Galwyn nods silently and keeps a tight grip on Ravus to keep him moving slowly and carefully. He tries to maneuver his horse behind Raoul to not interfere with his shot.

*Thankfully, the hurroks hadn't noticed Galwyn and Ravus, but they do see Raoul, who's taking aim carefully -- and brings one down with a shot* *to Galwyn* Go on, before they come over here.

*glaring right back* Well, I'm glad you've figured that out. Care to help send them back now? I can't do anything.

*And who better to come accross him than a sorceress about as evil as the one Thom brough to life? Here's Morgan, who looks slightly more sympathetic than she does normally. Only slightly, though* What have you been doing?

*and Thom, being Thom, will eye her quizzically from his position against the wall* *wryly* Making an idiot of myself, it would seem.

But with results. Not everyone who makes an idiot of themself even gets results, and so you're more worth noting. What have you been attempting, then?

*pushes his hair back, sighing* I was trying to open a portal into the realm of the immortals.

Numair happens to be walking past a window on his way out when he sees a hurrok. He winces, and forms a fist with his right hand. When he opens it, a ball of black fire is there.

"Find someone," he tells it. "Preferably Daine. Or whoever was responsible for this."

This would be one unhappy black-robe mage.

*and he can have another unhappy one -- who's exhausted, but he's got enough Gift to send a ball of fire back to Numair* *hoarsely* It's Thom.

Numair frowns at both the message and the state of the ball of fire -- it's rather weak. He sends a ball back to to Thom and follows the path -- hopefully, it'll take him by Daine. Stay there -- I'll meet up with you.

There are more questions to ask, but they'll have to wait until the mansion is safe.
