Only a moment ago, the tall knight had been preparing to mount and ride out in search of glory. --Giants to slay, green (which is to say young and inexperienced - don't worry Gawain) knights to defeat, maidens to rescue, that sort of thing ( Read more... )

"Do you really want to know?" A distinctly younger voice, from a slight figure incongruously clad in jeans and plaid shirt. "Because I certainly don't. God, this week just gets better."

Well this does nothing to reassure Kay regarding the state of his sanity. He really hadn't expected to see Mordred anytime soon, and certainly not dressed like that.

"Mordred." It's more a statement of fact than a greeting.

"I would have suspected, your kin to at fault."

"So would I, frankly, but it doesn't seem to work out that way."

"You know nothing more, I suppose?" Typical.

"No witchcraft that anyone can counter" says Gwen, nodding her head in greeting "Be welcome, Sir Kay."

Ty: Welcome!

"My Queen," Kay acknowledges, bowing only as respectfully as necessary. Her inconstancy is suspect, back at Camelot, these days. 'Suspect' being valid- only because Arthur has failed to address the matter thus far.

"I thank you, but what is this place?"

Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Kay. Oh, dear.

Percy looks a little not as enthusiastic as he should, but he gets a smile out. "Hi."

Kay's still taking in his surroundings, so it is with narrowed eyes that he regards Percy. It is interesting, how nonchalant everyone else seems about this whole scenario.

"Good e'en." He might also be a little bitter about what's passed.

"Where am I?" he asks directly, which seems simplest. Kay doesn't value this one for his wits, after all.

If Kay is bitter, Percy's just anxious and sort of embarrassed. He's let a lot slide since Heli and Galahad died, and done a lot more with trying to devote himself to God and his vegetable garden. So he answers quickly, "Well, it's called the Mansion, except there's more to it than that. There's a nice little woods. I live in the woods. How're you?"

Live- In the woods? Percy may be worse off than when last they spoke.
It is also probably wise not to explain the bit about god and the vegetable garden. Kay already has big respect issues, where Percy is concerned.

"I fare-," but he cuts off, in favour of, "...Are you mad?"

Upon seeing Kay, Arthur will step forward and embrace him, smiling greatly all the while. "Brother!" He pulls back, keeping one hand on either of Kay's shoulders. "Welcome-- it has been long."

"Sir King," Kay responds, puzzled at being ...accosted so.

"Arthur. Brother-" He does smile, of course. "We have only just parted, not half an hour past."

The King, we should mention, is definitely beaming, as one should do upon seeing one's big brother. "Kay. Sir Kay--" His smile fades slightly. "I have been long here. Several month."

Kay blinks, shaking his head and trying to make sense of the situation. "And yet, Sire, as I stand before you now; You, Arthur, have been seen at Camelot these many months."

She is standing there as he walks in; she is small, middle-aged, long-haired, and is holding a peculiar catlike creature in her arms. If Kay takes careful count, he will see that the number of limbs is two too many.

"We don't know yet, sir," she says softly, "but you're welcome to this place."

"Who is we, lady?" Kay asks, almost brusquely, as he studies the woman and the cat-thing acutely.

He does count a second time, admittedly.

"The people living here. This place is more populated than it may appear to be at first." She smiles, trying to put him more at ease. She doesn't blame him for sounding agitated.

Telling him that there are more people here, that he doesn't know, doesn't do much to curb his agitation. But he nods, and forces himself to relax. Slightly.

"Aye, but who are they? And why am I here?" Last he checked, he doesn't live here.
