*bounces in* Hullo, everybody! I'm Pippi Longstocking, but I'm sure that you've heard of me, what with all the books and movies based on my adventures. *grins happily* Have any of you ever been on a ship? I grew up on a ship, you know, with my father Captain Longstocking. I'm sure someone here has to have heard of him. He's a cannibal king now, ( Read more... )

Christ, it's Pippi! I LOVED your books as a little girl! My typist needs to read 'em, though. Oh my god! Welcome aboard!

...Are there flapjacks left?

Hullo! I like your hair color.

There are always pancakes left! I'll go heat some up.

Thank you! I've always loved yours. I wore it forever as a kid. My poor mum was so relieved; used to be a different colour of the rainbow every day.

Cheers, dear!

So have to make the typist buy your books -- what does she mean by being broke!

*beams and smiles the great-big-friendly-Passepartout-smile-of-wonderful-friendliness* Hello, Mademoiselle Longstocking! I've been on a ship, but I was rather ill, I'm afraid due to recovering from a pipeful of opium and a hangover at the time. I am afraid I've never heard of your father during my journey with Monsieur Fogg, but surely that's only because I wasn't looking out for his name.

May I have a pancake?

*smiles back* Hullo!

*hands you a plate of freshly heated pancakes* Enjoy! ^_^

Ships, you say! Well, now, I know ships better than I know myself! Bonadventure Pencroff, lass, but simply call me Pencroff. But you say you grew up on a ship! That's a fine thing! I did, too, and it's only done good for me--if I'd not been a sailor, why! I'd never have my brave boy! You must meet him, too, if he's well enough. Harbert Brown, the cleverest lad who ever lived. He's a bit sick at the moment, though.

I'll trade you a pickled pig's foot for a pancake, my lass. Then, perhaps, we can talk ships--if that sounds agreeable to you.

Hullo, Pencroff! Yes, I certainly did grow up on a ship. I'm not sure what I want to be when I grow up, though - there's so many things I would love to do!

You don't have to trade anything for a pancake. I'll be happy to give you one!

Of course, of course. I was always going to be sailor, but there's a hundred things a fellow could be, of course! Why, you, lass, could be a teacher or a newspaper lady or a--a-- nineteenth-century America not helping Pencroff's cause much... or even an innkeeper, I daresay! Serve pancakes to all your customers!

Well, I thank you for that. I only suggested it because trades are always good, and pickled pigs' feet are a real treat, let me assure you!

I don't want to be a teacher. It seemed an awfully strange job. An innkeeper might be fun, though.

Are they? Well, maybe I'll try one, then.

*is utterly charmed* Hullo! I'm very pleased to meet you, Miss Longstocking. I'm Harbert Brown. *grins*

I'm afraid I haven't heard of your father, but I'm sure that's only because we've been on Lincoln Island so long. Why, I don't even know who's president of my own country!

*stares* Oh! You're the boy Pencroff said I should meet! *sticks out hand* Hullo!

*nods* I wouldn't expect those who don't sail much to not have heard of him.

*shakes hand happily* Hullo, again! Pencroff is lovely, isn't he? He's really the best.

I expect Pencroff would have, and told me about him, but, well. We haven't been able to go anywhere! *grins* We're living on a desert island. We were ballon-wrecked!
