He's been away for a long, long, LONG time. But, as these things go, he's back. Armed with information, a better knowledge of the land surrounding the Mansion... and more determination than is appropriate for a single man.

In a serious, gravely voice that is rusty from lack of use, he speaks to any that will listen:"I know what haunts these woods ( Read more... )

"There's something in the woods?"

He looks at the young boy intently, almost as if he's trying to get the measure of him, before answering.

"Oh yes. Had you not noticed? These woods are -alive-, and not all that dwells there is harmless!"

He gives Aragorn an apologetic grin. "I'm sorry! I haven't explored that far yet!"

"You would do well to stay out of certain parts of those woods, and to be on guard in the other parts."

Why don't you cut the drama and spill, and we'll compare notes?

He appears somewhat bristled from being addressed like that. Being a ranger, he's encountered many things, but never -this-. So, being of Númenorean descent... he looks down at the (somewhat shorter?) man talking to him, though not in a condescending manner.

"And who are you, to be asking this question?"

Mun: >.<

"Look, friend, if it's as dire as all that, I'd rather know about it sooner than later." He looks back up -- all the way up -- quite steadily. "Believe me, I appreciate theatrics as much as the next guy, but there's a time and a place."

[/sock] Apologies. >_> He's a pain. A pain with good sense, on occasion, but even so. [sock]

He studies the man opposite him intently, trying to see if he'll back down from his gaze. When the man won't, he can't help but be somewhat impressed. A tiny bit impressed, really.

"All manner of wild creatures, for one. But that still leaves the question of -your- identity unanswered..."

The manner in which he is smiling, however, should give away that if Mordred chooses to answer, it will be a confirmation... not an introduction.

Mun: Oh, fear not. I am -vastly- amused. We love Mordred, we do!

"I live in these woods, so if you think there's anything but the usual wild beasts, I'd like to know." He doesn't think he needs an introduction, but will be quite gracious if Aragorn seems confused.

He's somewhat surprised at the resemblance, though he does, of course, know who Elendil is. How could one -not- know, after all. And since he is a trusted ancestor, Aragorn will be somewhat more forthcoming in his answers.

"There is the creature Sméagol, also called Gollum. There are wargs, Uruk Hai, wild men."

"In these woods? They have been scarce all summer then." Though he frowns with concern and rather wishes he'd brought his sword out with him.

"I have seen only the former, but found traces of the others. It is well known that they only act on orders, so by your comment that they have been scarce, I must assume that such an order has remained absent."

"Evil. It is hard to say what kind, it keeps to the shadows."

Anárion looks at him for a long time, his face grave - this man seems familiar.

Again, there is a resemblance. Whereas he recognized Elendil, simply because he's had a chance to observe, this one is a stranger, and despite the familiar appearance, he will once again exercise caution.

"Aptly said."

"Thank you. From your words I may assume that you have found out?"

Anárion, too, is cautious and somewhat more gruff than usual - after all, who'd trust a rugged stranger just come from the wilds, even though he looks like a man of Númenor? Enough them worshipped the Enemy...

He studies Anárion intently, it's becoming a trend.

"Are you related to the man they call Elendil?"

"I'm afraid not, my lord." Having spent a year in Gondor, Elanor expects him to recognize her, but he doesn't it's just another oddity of the Mansion.

"Mistress Gamgee! I did not expect to see -you- here! Are you well? What of your parents?"

His gruff demeanor is forgotten at this most welcome sight.

"Much better, now that I see a familiar face! Tell me, Mistress Gamgee, have you been keeping safe?"

He's slightly, alright, MORE than slightly worried for her safety after what he discovered.
