"...Hi," she says a little awkwardly, as if she'd expected something more difficult than "hi". "I'm Nita."

*cheerfully* I'm Francine. Where'd you come from?

"Um. New York?" hopefully. Maybe she's still on the right planet, even.

"Niiiiita!" And here is a Kit, who has been rather dreadfully lonely, and is, of a consequence, inclined to hug. And then cling a bit. (Yay for complete lacks of inclination to stupid macho nonsense!)

She clings back unabashedly. "Hi! What are you doing? Where in the heck are we? What's going on?"

Cling! Cling! "Hi! I haven't been doing much, I don't know where we are, really, there's a house and a lake and a wood and Ed's here, and the Lotus, and I really don't know what's going on."

"Wait, what? Slow down-- what did you say?"

"Aaaaah. Hello, Sprat." Ed chuckles. He recognizes Nita's electrical field - it's different from what it is when she's a whale, but not completely so.

"I see you thrive."

[hniit]

"Aaaack--!"

Nita manages not to fall over, by the handy expedient of clutching Kit's shoulder, and just gapes for a minute.

"Ed," she says at last, in a tolerably normal tone, "someone your size shouldn't even be able to sneak up on me like that. Even if you are-- um."

Ed laughs, inordinately amused. "It's good to see you again as well."

"Well. Yeah. I mean." She bites her lip against a sudden uprush of tears. "Hi."

"Exactly what I said," Proginoskes says, flicking one or two wings open and shut in an irritable gesture.

She blinks a bit, but this, ironically enough, is more like what she was prepared to deal with. "Greetings, cousin," remembering her manners belatedly. "I don't suppose you know where we are."

"Greetings," he says, collecting his own manners, "I'm afraid I don't. I was Not, and then I Was and here."

He ruffles uncomfortably. "It's a bit disconcerting."

[hniit]

"Yeah, I guess it would be." Nita frowns. "There's a lot of that going around, huh?"

[callmestargirl]

A girl only a year or two older blinks at her and smiles serenely. "What can't be right? That you have grass on your pants?"

[hniit]

She casts a reflexive, slightly guilty look at her knees. "That's about the only thing that does make sense at the moment."
