Attention, please.

Kay has had just about enough of this nonsense.

So there is a sign in the main room, with a semi-scowling knight nearby. The spelling is creative, but it says roughly:

Those that want food, sign up below for whatever you can do. You'll do your job rotating with others. If you don't want to participate don't. Work and get food. Questions see ( Read more... )

Phedre is relieved that someone has finally taken matters into consideration. "I will gladly help," she offers with a little curtsy. "The Night Court has taught me all there is to know about serving peers. I shall share this knowledge, if that will please you."

No, Kay, she's not talking about selling her body - though she would take a hit for the team. Naamah's servants are also trained in such tasks.

"Indeed," she replies with a knowing smile. "There are far worse places to be than this Mansion."

And indeed, there are. This is not La Dolorosa, or the Mahrkagir's zenana. Here, she is free to move from her room, and to remain unmolested. Those are remarkable advantages.

He nods. And then doesn't say anything else, because there's nothing else to say.

This, ladies and gentlemen, may be one of the reasons Sir Kay never married.

Phedre smiles patiently for a moment - then wonders if she said something improper, decides she didn't, and looks at him with different eyes.

"Well then," she takes a small breath. "I suppose I should report for duty, eventually, Lord Cassiline?"

There is just a small edge in her voice.

T: I'm still laughing. :P

"Once everything's sorted, I'll draw a schedule and let you know." Whether he just misses the edge or ignores it isn't apparent.

"Fair and well, Sir Chevalier," she replies with remarkable evenness of temper - curtosy of Anafiel Delaunay's training. Inwardly, she is starting to find him infuriating, a rare emotion for Phedre at this point in her life, but one she used to know quite well.

And so before she throws a dart at him, not Kushiel's obviously, but one of her own, she curtsies, and takes her leave. "Until then, My Lord."

He bows in return. "My thanks, my lady."

Thus Phedre makes her exit - a little puzzled, and more importantly, happy not to have reverted to more temperamental behaviors of former days.
