Today is the first birthday of Jareth and Amadeo's daughter, Aisling, and the occasion, though obviously a happy one, has her daddy in a somewhat reflective mood.

He's come to the mansion in particular to seek out his mother, but any and all conversation is welcome.

Armand's (or should he say Amadeo's) appearance makes Lestat smile, and he beckons with one hand in a way that appears suggestive, despite the obvious jest. Turning in his chair, he lifts up his legs and crosses his feet over one armrest. There's an empty chair next to him and he's sure to pat the top of it so that Amadeo knows he's welcome to come sit -- as if the invitation was not already obvious. There's a book on his lap that's turned upside-down, but the cover is readable as being King Lear, a play that he has yet to finish. He blames David.

Lestat smirks, but his tone is good-natured. "Making a social call?"

"I was looking for someone particular, but I suppose you will have to do in the meantime." His tone is lightly teasing and he smiles as he sits.

"You always knew how to flatter me." Lestat steeples his hands and sits back in the chair, pressing the sides of his fingers against his mouth. "Why should I have to settle for being a second choice, hm?"

But he's hardly serious. The fact of the matter is that Lestat is rather bored, and it isn't easy to hide. He has David to bother, of course, but David has little patience for him.

"It is a talent of mine," Amadeo responds agreeably, hooking a leg over the arm of his own chair. "And you will settle for it because you are a loquacious devil."

Seeing Amadeo, Denis smiles politely but does not go to him as he usually would. In fact his gaze looks very distant; his voice dreamily vague. "Bonsoir, my master."

Amadeo doesn't exactly miss Denis' usual affection, but it worries him a little all the same. "Denis. How have you been?"

"Have you seen that handsome man?" He means Cancanagh - though he doesn't know his name so can't specify - as he's all he can think about nowdays due to the enchantments put on him.

"I miss him," he adds sadly.

An eyebrow raise of disbelief. "What man is this, Denis?"

Mother is there for she has no where else to go and is still frightened of what has happened to her. She has taken to sitting beside the fireplace in the little room she has taken. It is warmer in the mansion than ever it was in Kiev but she finds comfort in the familiarity of flames and firelight.

In her hands she holds her painted egg as she sits thinking of her family and her home that she may never see again. When her thoughts are not of these things she is thinking of her Andrei, her child no longer lost to her. Only when she prays does she speak aloud, her lips moving as the words come slow and very softly.

Amadeo slips silently into her room, kneeling beside her chair and gently closing his hands around hers. "Mother, are you well?"

"Andrei." A smile comes to her sallow face as she looks upon him. "Ah, I do well now to see you my son."

Amadeo smiles in return at that, glancing around her little room curiously. "You have found comfort here?" It's rather an anxious question - he is greatly concerned for her, all alone.

Nicolas smiled at Amadeo, nodding. His fingers were stained with ink again, which meant for the first time in a while, he was writing more or less constantly, and he was happy. Lilli helped with that, but he always felt happiest when he was creating his music.

"Hello, Amadeo. How have you been?"

"Nicki. You look well." Amadeo returns his smile. "And I have no cause for complaint."
