He bears a striking resemblance to Anthony Quinn, though he's much hairier.  Nearly every inch of his olive skin is thick with black hair-it's clearly human, but there is a certain gorilla-like air.  His eyebrows are especially thick.  For all this, he only has short hair atop his head, and only faint stubble for a beard, which exemplifies his .  ( Read more... )

"No one seems quite certain, sir," Arabella replies, very polite. Her manners are polished enough, and she's been in this place long enough, that she hardly gives him more than a second glance.

Hagbard laughs-it is a loud laugh that can be described by no word but Jovial. "Just my kind of place then!"

Arabella cannot help but smile. "Is it indeed, sir?"

Hagbard nods at Arabella, considering her. "I don't suppose you were at the Ingolstadt Music Festival a few years back?" He pauses for only the briefest moment. "No, of course, a lady of your standing wouldn't have been. Probably couldn't have been! Of course, anyone who says they remember it wasn't there, if you see what I mean. Other than myself, that is." He chuckles. "My point, my dear woman, is that no one has ever known what happened there. What was your name?"

Typist: Oh my god. I love you, whoever you are. I have been waiting for someone to come from that trilogy for ages. I salute you. And apologize in advance for Eris.

"The madhouse," Eris answers helpfully. She tilts her head, grinning at him.

Typist: I was worried no one would've read it, though if anyone had I knew it would've been you!

Surprise only crosses Hagbard's face for a moment, after which he stands, grinning more broadly than before. "Goddess, you mad mother!" He kneels sardonically. "Are you responsible for this particular madhouse any more than any others?"

Eris just beams. She knows one of her own when she sees him, after all. Things are no doubt going to get very interesting shortly.

"You really have to ask, sugar?"

John couldn't help but laugh at someone kneeling in front of Eris and he nudged her, "Aaw, you've got a fanboy. How cute!"

Typist: THAT EARLIER TAG DIDN'T HAPPEN *handwave*

"What is a computer? And a submarine?" he asks, still too new to be used to confusion. He's forgoing armor given the peaceful nature of the place, but still wears a sword, and holds himself as a knight. Too much training to ignore.

"Hm..." Hagbard has never met a knight who wasn't just play acting, but considering the sword, he decides that they must have gotten the bearing right. "My computer is a sort-of false man with a box for a body. Most computers are--well, have you ever seen an Abacus?"

"A submarine is what you would get if you turned Jonah's whale into a ship; it goes underwater, and you can live in it."

This is a new feeling for Hagbard-he's used to explaining these sorts of things to people with some understanding. This must be how Malaclypse feels...

"Tis a creature? Tis tame?" He comes forward a bit, skeptical but interested. "And how is a man like an abacus, even a false man? What enchantment is it?"

"I would call the Lief Erikson many things, but I'm not sure tame would be one of them!" He bursts with laughter. "Though she obeys. And does not digest." He hesitates on the next question-he wonders what Malaclypse or the Dealy Lama would say, but he's neither of them, so he stops himself. "It is an enchantment bound by numbers. It's almost kabbalistic, really." He is very much not used to having to actively think as he goes, so his face is beginning to scrunch up. "It's like a Golem, but very particular."

"You talk oddly. You must be modern." Armand smiles.

"Modern?" Hagbard laughs immodestly. "One of those places! Good, good!" He's heard rumors, of course, but had always assumed that he would have to actually seek one out.

"You are classical, then?"

"I suppose you could say that. I'm from the past."

"Well, we're all from the past, technically." He grins. He's a very grinny man and his typist is slightly lazy.

Here, have a crazy woman. Firekeeper wasn't really planning on doing anything today. At least, not really. And that air of command sets her teeth a little on edge, and the watching of everything completes her annoyance. She stands up and gives him a challenging stare with wolfish eyes, but doesn't do any more than that.

Typist: Sorry about her...she's crazy. And welcome to DF! :D

Hagbard meets her eyes, and his maddeningly joyous grin fades to the merest friendly smile. The commanding air is only reduced a little. He can see, in their depths, that she's not quite human-he's friends to Dolphins and Apes, after all-and that it's not just a cosmetic choice. But he's not used to dealing with partial humans, though staring them down is no harder than full humans.

"Who are you, young lady?" he finally says softly.

Typist: Crazy is what I joined for! Thank you ^_^

"Firekeeper," she says abruptly, flicking her eyes over him briefly in search of a weapon of some short. "And you?"

"Hagbard Celine," he says softly, deeply intrigued. He recognizes the searching eyes, and spreads his arms slightly to make it clear that he's unarmed. He doesn't tend to carry any weapons, besides his fists and his tongue. He watches her for a moment before finally asking, "Are you a werewolf? I've never met anyone who... wasn't just hairy." He still smiles warmly.
