He bears a striking resemblance to Anthony Quinn, though he's much hairier.  Nearly every inch of his olive skin is thick with black hair-it's clearly human, but there is a certain gorilla-like air.  His eyebrows are especially thick.  For all this, he only has short hair atop his head, and only faint stubble for a beard, which exemplifies his .

"You talk oddly. You must be modern." Armand smiles.

[tanstagi]

"Modern?" Hagbard laughs immodestly. "One of those places! Good, good!" He's heard rumors, of course, but had always assumed that he would have to actually seek one out.

"You are classical, then?"

[sweariwontdie]

"I suppose you could say that. I'm from the past."

[tanstagi]

"Well, we're all from the past, technically." He grins. He's a very grinny man and his typist is slightly lazy.

"Yes, technically, but that describes most of life, too. What year was it where you're from?"

[tanstagi]

"Let's see... I think it's still the year we immanentized the eschaton... Which makes it 1976. Gregorian. And you, when are you from? And does 'Now' have a point-in-time?"

Armand seriously wonders if this man is speaking English. "I'm from... I guess I would 1796 by now. And... I've been told that the 'present day' is in 2007."

[tanstagi]

Hagbard laughs. "Some friends of mine would put it simply: What a trip!"

"A trip to where?"

[tanstagi]

"Here, I think!" Hagbard laughs again.

"I suppose you're right. We call it the Mansion."

[tanstagi]

"And what can I call you?" Hagbard puts forth his coarsely hairy hand.

[sweariwontdie]

Armand shakes the hand very briefly because he knows most people greet one another that way. Then he bows, with a small flourish. "I am Armand St. Just."

[tanstagi]

"And I am Hagbard Celine." He smirks, thinking--It's interesting to see a temporal displacement with a good head on its shoulders. The last one he met kept talking to trees.

"Welcome to the Mansion. Sad to say, I doubt you'll be able to leave again."

[tanstagi]

"Sad? A Mad Mansion is a very good place to live out one's life." A maniac gleam sneaks its way back into his eyes as his grin broadens. "And one should never say never."
