Crackplot: When Canon Goes Wild

Jul 09, 2007 21:30

The Mansion has a library, which, as we know, possibly rivals the Unseen University's for content if not for size. A lot of books, basically; a lot of stories. And some stories, because this sometimes happens, have gathered different versions of themselves over time. Which wouldn't normally pose a problem, except now the room's been tampered with. For someone with conflicting canons as confusing as Nancy's it was bound to happen. Gone is the blonde, chic, gun-toting, independant Nancy of the thirties. In her place is the ginger, utterly perfect, coordinating Nancy from the revised editions. She smoothes her green belted sundress with matching pumps, gloves, hat and knitting bag and looks around.

"I do think I need someone to tell me where I am," she says. A strapping, handsome, male someone would be especially welcome.

"You and me both," crossly, not quite paying attention.

He'll do.

"Can you at least tell me if this is Chicago?"

"Not last I checked," he says offhandedly, and then wishes he hadn't. He looks at her again, sidelong.

In some universe, we are sure, certain typists have already finished, perhaps even published, their ongoing serials.

Therefore:

"Jeez, they keep changing things around in here--" He stops, looks behind him. "Gaheris? --Shit."

Gaheris catches his name, and glances over, doesn't recognise. "Aye, sir?" warily enough. Though he's handsome and charming he does bear some resemblance to himself, perhaps something in his eyes or mouth.

"What?" A beat. Two. "Sorry, I'm looking for my brother. Stupid kid never keeps up."

Gaheris bows. "Forgive me. I thought you summoned me."

Oh, well then. Here's the Woadish princess Guinevere, daughter of Merlin who is for all intents and purposes, fighting against Arthur and his men.

t: please to be kind on the typist, she hasn't actually seen the film.

*surprised to see her like this* Queen Guenevere, I had thought you followed the Christian faith.

"That of the Romans? I think not." She eyes Morgan warily, not recognising her.

Indeed? Tales of your piety, and your attempts to convert your husband have reached even Avalon. Are they false?

And just because, here is Set! Hero-King of Ombos! Defender of Ra! Beloved and revered champion of the gods! All-around good-guy!

But still absolutely, irrepressibly homosexual, thank mercy.

*so, you know that movie She's The Man? from a silly Shakespeare fangirl fic based on it comes Daniel Fortinbras, Jr. (call him Forti), star of the Illyria Prep soccer team. he has no idea what he's doing in a library, but he wouldn't be surprised if Hamlet Denmark, Jr. had something to do with it (ssh, family feuds don't have to be logical). however, what greets him when he leaves the library is rather unfamiliar, and he's pretty sure that Hamlet couldn't turn Illyria Prep into a mansion...* Hey! What's going on?

*meanwhile, a certain somewhat shy and gawky teenager with whom Forti has History rounds the corner* Um.
