The Doctor Is [IN]

There is, at the top of the main staircase, a heavy oak door with a frosted glass panel, like a monochrome sunset, over the frame. On the door, at eye level, is a brass nameplate. “Ariane Emory, Pysch.,” it says, in deeply engraved letters

Gawain knocks on the doorframe, politely standing on the hallway side of the open door. "Doctor Emory? Do you have a moment?"

Ari sets her book down on her lap. "Sure I do," she says, cheerful and smiling, "What did you need?"

Gawain steps inside the office easily, smiling back. "Ah, well," he says, "My brother's been having trouble sleeping and I was wondering...?"

Ari nods. "There's lots of ways to try and fix that," she says, "I'd have to talk to him, of course."

Elaine pauses by the open door, timidly.

Ari looks up. "Hello, Elaine," she says, warm and even, setting her book away, "Feel free to come in."

She does, after a moment's hesitation. "I don't exactly-- I mean, I only wanted to ask your opinion."

Ari nods, quiet and reassuring. "Go ahead," she says, "I'm listening."

He knocks on the door timidly. He just had a few questions, honest.

Ari finishes turning her page and looks up. "Hello! Come on in."

Armand enters, still acting a bit shy since he feels he's being intrusive. "Bonjour, Mlle. Emory. I'm Armand St. Just... I wanted to ask you a few questions if you had a moment."

"I've got plenty of moments. What did you want to ask?"

Cassandra stands at the door, staring at the sign and wondering what to do. She needs to talk to someone, preferably someone she doesn't know, especially after the incident by the lake, but she still feels incredibly ashamed by everything that she remembers now.

So she'll just stand here staring blankly until someone directs her otherwise.

"Hello," Ari says, smiling warmly over the top of her book, "Would you like to come in?

Cassandra gives a wan smile, still nervous, but she nods and glides in, sitting in a chair and gripping the arms as if they're the only things keeping her from bolting.

Ari folds the book up and sets it down on her lap. "What can I help you with?"

Someone has been poked up here by his older brother, and is standing at the door frowning and waiting to be asked in rather than taking the initiative.

"Hi!" Ari says, and waves, "You're ser Gawain's brother, right?"

"That's right. Gaheris."

"Pleased to meet you," Ari says, and steps forward to offer a handshake, "I'm Ari Emory."
