What's in a name?
I am thoroughly enjoying the discussions about the BabyCenter most popular names of 2010 list and related commentary across the internet. Good times!
Thankfully, the names we'd consider for a child aren't anywhere near the top (except for Lily, which is disappointing). -
Refinancing?
As soon as the house is in better enough shape to let an appraiser inside, we're going to pursue refinancing our mortgage to take advantage of the lower interest rates from when we bought 3 years ago. Has anyone refinanced recently and has any tips to offer or other advice? We are also considering going from a 30-year to a 20-year term as well. ( Read more... ) -

Obama is coming to town this evening to have a rally for our Congressman who is in a hard fight against his opponent for re-election. He himself upset the incumbent by only 727 votes 2 years ago.

lunch rut
I need food ideas. Lunch is actually my least favorite meal of the day. I could take it or leave it from the perspective of typical lunch foods, either those fixed at home or lunch procured from a restaurant. seriously?
We just found out from our contractor that the $1700 in solid oak flooring we bought and was delivered yesterday is crap - the boards are warped, the tongues/grooves are messed up and the finish is really poor quality. This is after F and I carried the 1300 pounds of wood up our stairs yesterday! I'm glad our contractor told us this instead of ( Read more... ) -
OMG, our house is totally ripped up
We are in deep right now. We spent all of labor day weekend completely demolishing our upstairs - okay, not the walls, but everything else - floors, doors, trim. Our belongings are either in the storage unit or in our living room, where we are also....living. new adventures in alternative medicine
I've been going to the acupuncturist for about 8 months now. I really enjoy it. It's very relaxing, and I've had some treatments that have felt very powerful. The strangest/most intense ones are when I have 5 needles in each ear! I'm still doing my chicken broth in the morning periodically.
