London Weekend

Aug 16, 2010 21:43

So, arrived in London on Friday morning - early enough to beat the Customs rush at Heathrow, took a train into the city and made it to Kings Cross station before 9.00am. Then got massively lost trying to find the hotel. You'd think a hotel called Holiday Inn Kings Cross/St Pancras would be easy to find from the train station wouldn't you? But ( Read more... )

Wow! You did so much, and at some wonderful places.

Had dinner in a rather nice Indian place

Did it have puppets hanging from the ceiling?

I love the Globe SO much. And Hamleys is SO exciting. :D

It's a shame you haven't been on the Eye yet. It's a wonderful experience.

No, actually the Indian place didn't have puppets. That would have been cool!

I will have to do the London Eye one day. So I've got an excuse to go back to London still. Not like I needed one.

oh, wow - you know Big D would have gone all "supermarionation/anderson" geeky on any toy store nearby... what a great thing to do, seeing Henry IV at the Globe!!! You have started off with a bang, hm? BTW - what are you doing in Oct 2011? That's our anticipated visit month!

I will almost certainly be in Australia in october 2011. that's usually a really busy month with a lot of my colleagues off at conferences. I'm sure I could wangle a day or 2 off though to hang out with you and D.

We've been continuing more or less in the same vein since we left London. Did some more Dr Who heeling in Newcastle and now visiting friends in Yorkshire and on to Accrington tonight.

Hallo! At least there is wifi there... ho hum there is no wifi or very little wifi in the most advanced country here... well, in hotels, they have lan cables and in most places, you have to subscribe to some ISP to access their wifi spots.

Due to this, I actually know the spots in Tokyo with free wifis...

How's the iphone? I am still waiting for mine, because it may be one of the most technocologically advanced countries but it's still bloody slow in getting things!!! I almost wonder if I want a phone anymore...!

Things have been up because I dont have a phone, mobile or net. I borrow others' net or try to find wifi spots. I'm shit bored of doing nothing but sit in an office trying to study Japanese or prepare for my presentation/intro to the students.

And the weather sucks. It's hotter and more humid than Sydney in Summer. I hope you're having better weather!!!

Take care :)

Hi. Hot and humid, eh? My least favourite aspect of Sydney in summer. And yeah it sucks when you've got no Internet at work and all you can do is actually study or work ;-)

No, seriously. I've been stuck in an office in a foreign country like that. Sounds like my earliest days working in the lab in Canada. It does suck, if it's any consolation, it does get better.

And the lack of free wifi in japan truly astonishes me. Seriously?

All in all I'm loving the new iPhone. My main quibble it keeps "fixing" my spelling to American. I wonder if there's some way to change that?

Cuddles and I are still having fun. Currently we are visiting

Ok. New quibble with the iPhone. You can't see what you're typing when you go more than one "screen" on the reply on LJ.

What I meant to say was. Hope that things pick up for you soon. Cuddles and I are still having fun. We're currently visiting arwen75 in Yorkshire.

I have internet!!!! Fibre optic superfast one... omg I will be so spoiled when I return to australia.

And yes, you can install and swap to a british english keypad... I do!!! You just have to ask Matt when you get back or maybe if you're in the Apple store, just ask them.

I still am waiting for my iphone.
