Admitting Ignorance - Costume Help Needed

Mar 27, 2009 10:15

Okay, some of you may have noticed (and even more of you may be completely clueless to the fact) that I have steadily gained more interest in the Steampunk style. Well recently, due to Ragresen's encouragement while out shopping for new shoes, I picked up a pair of heels that got the ideas running in my brain. Now, I've been costume quiet for some time, ( Read more... )

We could always make it a group thing? I can see myself needing a few Soldiers, or maybe a Moll. ^_~ Or you could just do regular steampunk and we can wander together. The opportuities are endless!

The wonderful thing about steampunk is that it's sooo diverse you can do just about anything and still be steampunk. =) It's more the colors than anything. The style can be anything from Victorian to 1920's to Futuristic.

That would definately work! I've seen something like that before. Not exact or anything so your idea is still original. =) You could do a pinstripe Victorian skirt with a pinstripe top and a small black vest with a pocket watch or something hanging from it.
This is the skirt I want but I think it would be just as well suited for your needs or something similar. This one might be better. Check out that website, they have some great clothes there.

OH, what did you see that's kind of like it? XD

I very much like those skirts you've linked, and they've given me some ideas. I think I'd want to construct from scratch rather than purchase, though. S'easier that way, I think. And I'd probably want to try solid pinstriping on the skirt rather than what those have got going for them.

Steampunk seems to be the rage as of late. I don't know much about it, but I must say - those shoes are made of awesome.

S'ankew! I got them for a steal, too. $25, and another pair of shoes from the same brand for half off of something crazy like $15, though those are much more "normal" than these.

Aren't they, though? They're about half a size too small, but I simply had to have them. I'm trying to wear them in, and I'm going to take them to get stretched. Let's hope it works. If nothing else, they should be fine in the long run for costume shoes.

As for Steampunk, it's pretty easy to get into. I don't know much about it, but what I've seen thusfar has really sucked me in. <3
