Admitting Ignorance - Costume Help Needed

Okay, some of you may have noticed (and even more of you may be completely clueless to the fact) that I have steadily gained more interest in the Steampunk style. Well recently, due to Ragresen's encouragement while out shopping for new shoes, I picked up a pair of heels that got the ideas running in my brain. Now, I've been costume quiet for some time, ( Read more... )

Dude, if you'd been to DragonCon last year, you would've seen sooooo much Steampunk. It's really big right now. ^^

Dunno if it's been mentioned, but taking a look just through the pattern books at the costume section might give you some sort of inspiration. The historical costumes sections have gotten pretty elaborate over the last few years.

I was at D*Con last year, though not the whole weekend. I saw. Doesn't mean I know enough to construct / design this costume all by my lonesome. ^_~ But yea, I go to D*Con every year. I actually was in a steampunk costume, if you want to get technical, since it was a costume from a steampunkish webcomic.

And yea, I need to do that. I have nothing in my personal storage of historical patterns that would count as Victorian. Guess I need to remedy this problem.

Thank you! I didn't make them, and I forget who did now. But I'm muchly in love with them. <3<3<3 The books good, too!

Ya know I can help you come up with a few ideas. My first suggestion is that you mix a few things. The Victorian dress look is neat, but keep in mind that you will wear this at a con and you know hard it is to get around./ I would combine a skirt that is maybe knee length in some way. Like maybe take that skirt mentioned by your above friend and alter it to knees length and then add some military leggings of some kind to the lower legs, but add a female flair to them. Well call me as always to talk me :)

We'll definitely ahve to talk. Though I'm not too worried about mobility. You know me. Appearance = much more important than comfort.

Yay D*Con! ::snuuuuugs:: Oh man, now I'm starting to wonder if I'll have enough time/money to get everything I want to do ready. I forget, how close do you live to me again, if you do at all? I don't recall if you're an out-of-townie or not, and I could use someone to sew with. <3
