Day 21 - Favorite ship

See now, this is another one that's impossible to answer, because I've had so many ships over the years. If I've loved a show, I'll have shipped somebody. It used to mostly het, now it's mostly slash, but if I love I ship. So I cannot answer that one with my all-time favourite ship, because I don't think I have one that stands out over the other.

Now if we're talking my current favourite ship, that's easy! Chris/Vin from The Magnificent Seven. I'm completely in love with them. And they're so damn easy to ship - I mean, any show where you have two characters who seem to have an unspoken communion between them from the first moment they meet is going to pique my interest, you know? And here you have Chris and Vin, and that long gaze across a dusty street, a tilt of the head from Chris and a nod from Vin, and you have a partnership born. It's beautiful.

I just adore them. I love how Vin trusts Chris almost from the moment he meets him, trusts him enough to tell him about the price on his head, and Chris is just bashful and shy and grinning when Vin calls him friend. And Chris was going to go with Vin to Tascosa to help him clear his name - this man he barely knew, but he was going to throw in his lot with him anyway. And then they both stay, and Chris is so clearly the captain of their little band and Vin's the lieutenant. And they're always always in each other's shadows - if you see Chris you know Vin's not far away, and vice versa.

And for all that they both have romantic interest in this show, it all comes back to the pair of them. When Mary Travis is looking like she might marry Gerard, Chris is less interested in that than in Vin's relationship with Charlotte. And I highly doubt it's because Chris cares that she's married - after all, he never pays any attention to Buck's philandering - it's because he's worried Vin will run off with her. And when Vin does, but then comes back again, Chris' 'are you staying for good?' is so plaintive. Oh Chris. My heart. And Vin does stay, of course he stays.

And, oh, there are so many things. Like Chris swearing that he won't let Vin hang, even if it means risking his own neck. Or Vin riding into a town where half everyone knows his face, not denying he's wanted for murder, because he's looking for Chris. Or Chris giving off 'don't touch me' vibes to everyone, even Buck his oldest friend, but he'll sling an arm around Vin's shoulder, he'll lean in and whisper in Vin's ear, he'll squish himself down next to Vin so close there isn't any air between them. Or the way Vin teases Chris by calling him 'cowboy'. Or the way their idea of goodbye is clasping forearms and gazing into each other's eyes for a long moment.

I just...oh, can you tell I love them?
