ARASHI

With each member having a specific characteristic of his own, whenever the 5 of them are together, the group Arashi brings out an exceptional atmosphere. That sweet-sour brotherly bond, the sense of comfort and happiness built on reassured trust, these are what “that moment when everything was so shiny and bright” is made up of. This is exactly how they are able to make us laugh at all the absurd things they say and do. The youth movie “Kiiroi Namida” which tells about a group of young people who continued going after their dreams at the prime of their youth, is a piece where the director dreamed to one day turn into a movie after watching a drama of the same name when he was in middle-school. To make this dream come true, the special atmosphere that Arashi projects is indispensable. Being a group of people who act, while filming a movie together as actors they are also working as Arashi, this time we would like to verify the importance of the specific characteristics of each member in his absence. We will have them present this in the form of live radio broadcasting event.

Solo photoshooting is about to start, members’ interview will be carried out during the photoshoot session. Since this is a trial in absence, the remaining 4 will talk about the person who is off to do the solo photoshooting, this is how it will be this time.

Arashi: Please bear with us.

First things first, for the sake of voice recognition, please say your name clearly in order.

Aiba Masaki: Yes. Ah, I am Aiba~
Sakurai Sho: Ah, ah, I am Sakurai Shou~
Ninomiya Kazunari: Ah, ah, I am Last Samurai~
Matsumoto Jun: Ah, ah, I am Saitou~
Ohno Satoshi: Ah, ah, I am Raizou~
Sakurai+Aiba: Ahahahaha

First up is Ninomiya-san, please go to the photoshooting area.

Ninomiya: What the! I just sat down! (laugh)
Sakurai: Farewell, Last Samurai!
Aiba: You’d better get going now.

Ninomiya Kazunari ・ on leave

So we would like to ask about Ninomiya-san, how would you describe Ninomiya-san’s character in one word?

Aiba: Character? Eh, how should I put it?

Since he’s not here now, please say anything without filtering.

Sakurai: Well, he’s not very nice (laugh)
Matsumoto: He’s really the worst (laugh)
Sakurai: Nfufufu
Matsumoto: And, he likes to be alone.
Sakurai: Though he likes to be alone, he’s afraid of loneliness. He’d be reading comics, playing games and stuff.

Ohno-san what do you think about him?

Ohno: He goes straight home. When he’s done working he goes straight home.
Sakurai: But when we’re working together, he stays with you till the end doesn’t he?
Ohno: Yes yes… I think he likes me.
Sakurai: Yeah I figured (laugh)

So Ohno-san, do you like Ninomiya-san?

Ohno: Nah, not really (laugh)
Sakurai: Ahahaha
Matsumoto: Not really huh (laugh)

Some time ago, Sakurai-san said “he has trouble saying what he really thinks” about Ninomiya-san.

Sakurai: Well it’s like, when I read his interviews on magazines, when a rather provocative question is being asked, he tends to change course, giving answers which make me wonder, is that really so?
Ohno: Yes. I’ve never seen him show how tired he is.

He doesn’t say “I’m tired”?

Ohno: Right.
Sakurai: …..Aiba-san, you’re not talking at all.
Aiba: Ah, I was just thinking.
Sakurai: You’ve been thinking for a rather long time (laugh)
Aiba: Yeah, about a lot of things. What kind of person is he, you’re asking me that right? Basically he loves fooling around. Though we don’t really go drinking together a lot, but we often get together for bowling, or go to places like the batting centre.
Sakurai: About that, he’s just accompanying you, I suppose? (laugh)
Aiba: No no, I know it when he’s just tagging along (laugh). Because he keeps saying “I want to go, I want to go”, I thought there’s no way I’d turn him down.
Sakurai: Ah, I see (laugh). So how is it exactly? So you both like it?
Aiba: I guess we do. Those places where school children go to play. Because we used to play baseball together. Though it’s just amateur baseball we’re playing.
Sakurai: No one would think about professional baseball from the way I see it (laugh)

When was the time when you thought it’s great that Ninomiya-san went to Hollywood and acted in “Letters from Iwojima”?

Sakurai: When I got to know that Arashi is popular in Paris I guess? (laugh)
Aiba: Speaking of which, he tricked me. I was told by Ninomiya that he went by canoe.
Matsumoto: Fufu.
Sakurai: Well, nothing changed for us. That is because, Nino himself didn’t change at all.
Aiba: He didn’t change at all.
Sakurai: But, to have appeared in an international piece of work that was nominated in the Academy Awards, this allowed Arashi to be made known at a broader scope, this is definitely a wonderful thing for us, and I think this is a great moment for Nino’s career too. So, everything good came with that, don’t you think?
Aiba: And I got to see Clint Eastwood’s autograph.
Sakurai+Ohno+Matsumoto: Ahahaha

The real autograph.

Sakurai: (laugh) The rest of us didn’t get any award though.
Aiba: Though we didn’t get anything, but to be able to see that is a big thing itself (laugh)
