I've suddenly realized that I'll be actually running the LA Marathon at this time next week. My official race confirmation postcard finally arrived; I'd used e-mail to update my address but it still got forwarded from the old house instead. Well, not the original one in LA, but the one near "the old house", after I did some yardwork and cleanup there. Chili cheeseburger, chili cheese fries, and a large Mountain Dew. Yeah, monstrous calories, but it's not a regular thing.

I had a bit of a quandary. I had two races I wanted to do this past weekend. Saturday was a local 5k that runs right around my house, and the other race was a half marathon on Sunday, which had heavy involvement from my running club.

The Los Angeles Marathon is under new management. Originally it was scheduled for March 1st, but the new owner is looking to do a Monday marathon (takes pressure off traffic woes for churchgoers. Or something). Now, in Boston they run the prestigious Boston Marathon on Patriot's Day, an actual Monday holiday that's peculiar to that particular area ( Read more... )
