Wow. Talk about brilliant garden weather. The leaf crop seeds I planted out less than a week ago came up within 48 hours. In the case of the rocket seeds, the very next day. Goji are still sleeping ( Read more... )

've been battling the grey clouds again lately. Who would have thought that embarking on a long term project to improve my health and fitness would open up such a can of worms in my head about body image and self identity? Clearly it should have occurred to me.

This really resonated with me. I'm in a space of worm-can opening myself. If you're interested, and it would help not hinder I'd be interested in sharing with you.

Ramping up, huh?

Did I imagine it, or did you leave a comment on my journal that then vanished? I was in the middle of replying to comments when James said it was time to go watch wrestling, came back afterwards to finish replying and... the one I was replying to wasn't there. I think. Or am I just going through pregnancy brain? I was going to say something wise and sensible about health professionals and emergency services, just as soon as I'd worked out what it was.

Oh, no. I did delete it.

It didn't seem to really jibe with what you seemed to be saying about the emotionality, so I figured I must have seized on entirely the wrong point.

I was going to say that I'd seen and experienced the kind of training that emphasises doing the needful instead of merely reacting in acute crisis situations. Specifically trying to muffle the internal freakout babbling. :P

No, you'd seized on exactly the right point. Which is why I paused in replying, because it deserved a real answer rather than something quick :-) my brain is a bit slow these days. The training's quite important, I think. Most people probably aren't naturally as far along the bell curve as I am (now) in lack of response, and I probably wasn't once either. To handle crisis situations well, I think you *do* need training, otherwise the shock of it actually happening for real can seriously interrupt your ability to take what action's needed. That internal mumble can be annoyingly loud sometimes.
