On Parties

There are so many reasons to have a party, and "because it will make the house happy" is one of the better ones I think.

Lately I've been toying with the idea of throwing a 100th birthday party for my gramma in 2015, nevermind she's been dead since 2007. Gathering her surviving kith and kin in a space which I will fill with her art and her favorite food will please her if her spirit knows about it, and even if it doesn't, it'll please her survivors.

If I can throw a party for a dead person, you can certainly throw one for a living house. Surely that's the very definition of a house warming party? So what if you took a little extra time to get the feel for the house and figure out just what would warm it properly.

Yes, I have this problem, but you're also a nut :). I've had a few gatherings here (1912 Craftsman bungalow) since moving in, but no "Hey, I think I'll have a party" things. Perhaps it's because I really dislike organizing them and don't want to ask the friends that are good at it.

Maybe I'll have a "birthday" party for the house...
