Retail, yes, but the stockroom and inventory control end of retail. Not that it would have mattered- for those guys, military, corporate, teaching and nursing are the only things that pass 'GO'.

Change 'your' to 'my' and you have it.
They *are* stinky about the gay thing. They're stinky all over the insides of their teeny-tiny minds. And classist and narrow and bigoted and seriously screwed in their values. Life is too. flipping. short. to spend with people you don't like who don't like you. Cut your ties without regret. Christmas with them is a *favour*.
Otherwise- your *Mum* is a minister??? Yowza. And you're not working nights any more? Thank God for that, though I can believe it's a rough adjustment.

I think I'll spare myself the pain of direct confrontation and just make myself increasingly unavailable, much as I'd love to rub their noses in it. I may have to do Christmas if I don't totally want to break off completely, but since they never bother to memorize my schedule I can easily make it... inconvenient.
And my mother is, well, inches away from being a minister. She graduated from the seminary this spring, and will hopefully be ordained in October, but we won't know for sure until the final vote comes down from the church that's looking to hire her. Which happened yesterday, but I haven't heard yet whether it's a done deed.
