Not a bad day. Got more stuff done, watched a movie, and worked on music. Tomorrow I have two practices.

The first is with my mandolin player, Ben. He is awesome. We are working up some jazz/funk/gypsy/blues kinda stuff with just mando and upright bass. I like the sound of it so far, and it has been pushing me to learn to take leads and solos. ( Read more... )

Forgot to post last night. I was even home and at my computer. But Lani and I minecrafted like bosses. Unfortunately, we only had a couple hours, and I have big plans for this build. Like multiple towns, a giant castle... other epicness....

Woke up yesterday to the news that Lani's ankle was not going to be walking around NYC, so I was on my own. I met up with the band and rode up with the band and a few fans.

Had a traditional taco. And then we played a great show, made some money, saw some old friends, ate at Katz's, hit the road, and I made it home... actually I don't even know. ( Read more... )

What a night. Oh What A Night.

Great show at Black Cat. First time I have ever played or even been there. Nice place. Nice green rooms.

The crowd was large, and half drunk, so I am sure we sounded pretty good. It was good to see Kayla and Kaite. I hope they enjoyed the show.

Realized today that I didn't get down half the things I had planned. Between practicing upright and working on lyrics, the week just slipped by. Maybe next week will be better. I at least got some laundry done. That means I won't be naked for the shows.

I think I just joined another band.

The mandolin player from the Harris Brothers plays with a singer/banjo player named Chelsea. I jammed with them tonight, it went well, and I am already scheduled to play a gig with them in Shepardstown next month. So far I love the music, and she seems to think my upright bass skills are adequate. And I get paid. ( Read more... )

Just played by first gig with the celtic musicians I met at the open mic at Cristina's Cafe. I didn't know the songs, didn't know the percussionist, hadn't gotten my upright bass back until this week, and didn't get to tune before the first set. All in all, though, quite a good gig ( Read more... )
