Another OnPoDaNo Post

Not a bad day. Got more stuff done, watched a movie, and worked on music. Tomorrow I have two practices.

The first is with my mandolin player, Ben. He is awesome. We are working up some jazz/funk/gypsy/blues kinda stuff with just mando and upright bass. I like the sound of it so far, and it has been pushing me to learn to take leads and solos. ( Read more... )

I don't know how you deal with having to drive everywhere, having very little choices in places to go within a reasonable distance and being cooped up in the house during winter storms while waiting for a snow plow.

Also, just because some of us enjoy watching TV doesn't mean we are less cultured. I went to the goddamn ballet last weekend. When's the last time you were at the Kennedy Center? I was there THREE TIMES this year. =P

The country is nice to visit, but I need people and a variety of things to do to keep me entertained on a daily basis. Also, a short commute. You have to spend at least a half hour in a car to get anywhere.

Woah. Wait a minute. When did I say anybody was more cultured? All I said was that they don't watch alot of TV. There was no judgement as to whether that was good or bad. In fact, it is a little strange telling jokes with pop culture references to them, because they don't get the references.
And for the record, my commute is way shorter than yours. I just go downstairs. ;)
I am perfectly happy being here without people, snow or no snow. I only make the drive out to anywhere if I need to. But that is where we differ. A city full of people is unpleasant to me, and a drive through my mountains is pleasant. I do some of my best music writing in the car.
Again, not passing judgement, just saying I couldn't live in a city. Too much of what I don't like, not enough of what I do.

Ok, fair enough. I was just defending my choices. =)

Also, you can keep the country. I had enough years of that backwoods bullshit to last a lifetime. I mean, the country is lovely this time of year.

Oh, I am definitely not trying to encourage people to move out to the country. That would ruin it for me. ;)
I guess you could say I am a country hipster. I'll like it until it becomes popular. :)
