His failures with his former friends had been disappointing and they'd cost him quite dearly. The beating from Mitchell had only been the beginning. Hannibal had crawled back to New York, sore and angry, hoping that Danica and her friends would see his side of things.

So, as of this post, Hannibal's a vampire. It's canon, it had to happen so he could eventually be cured and join up with the Nightstalkers and be the awesomely sarcastic vampire hunter!

That's for later, though. Now, he's very much changed and he's not going to be the same guy everyone knows.
