PHONE (public);

[the first words spoken are in French. it’s measured-sounding, clearly a recitation or something being read aloud.]  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek; and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. Now now. For a book written by fools, it has its merits.

I can hardly see anything within it that isn't cliched or sheer idiocy, to be honest.

I would disagree. Like the passage says, I see no reason in worrying about tomorrow. Or on much of anything, for that matter. Worry is simply something that dulls one's mind. It penetrates one's defenses and stops one from fully carrying out who they could be.

Not to mention, religion has always been the best friend of war.

If you look at it like that it would be reasonable, but what leads up to that passage seems to nullify its sensibility. If one decides not to worry it shouldn't be due to the words of a supposedly omnipotent being.

People do tend to arm themselves with whichever weapon seems kindest.

[it's standard fare for the classics and then a few things like Greig's Butterfly Op. 43 and Mignone's Valse de Esquina n.2 thrown in. ...basically everything depressingly minor keyed and suitable for a stuffy old man.]

Hello to you, too.

Hello, Charles! Nice day to sit out on the street, isn't it?

[He picks up one of the records, licks it, and sets it back down before picking up another one.]

as Horace treads all over parts of the lettuce trail in a very confused fashion, probably leaving its own trail of drool-y drone blood as a replacement.]

Hey! You, there! Stop that!

The unicorns won't come if you leave all this blood behind. Go on, clean it up.

[it stops for a moment! not to clean up the bloody mess, though, instead it just looks over at the source of the noise and

drools

menacingly]

[ not religious, but ] I don't think so! There's some truth to that, you know. Many people worry so much about what's gonna happen soon that they don't even think about what's happening to them now. Then they get sick, and that's not good.

It would be their own fault for having an immune system so pitiful that worry-induced stress would be enough to cause them to fall ill. [no that's missing the point entirely.....]

And even then, why should one decide not to worry for the future just because it's supposedly taken care of by fate or God or what have you?

hwamei July 23 2011, 05:12:52 UTC
Oh... I didn't say anything about that! I just think that, you know, we should take things one step at a time. We can take care of the small stuff first, then the big stuff. It's good to be prepared for the future, but if you think about it a lot, it'll be really taxing.

Don't you believe it's better to be prepared than to take it one step at a time and stumble because you're too busy looking at your feet to notice that the ground has given way ahead of you?

Though I suppose there are people better suited for details and people better suited for keeping an eye on the big picture.

Of course not. How many times must I explain these things to you before you understand them?
