One of my TV programmes that I saw as a teen and still love is, Blakes 7. My favourite character is Avon and he is a great one for the sarcastic one-liner ... One of which is -
"Regret is part of being alive, but keep it a small part."
It is one of my favourite quotes of all time, not just the show. Life is full of regrets, if you have any feelings at all.
Over the years there are a million things I regret, but all of them were small things - the times I've lost my temper, missed TV shows, failed exams, etc, but most of those were things that, at the time, were either out of my control, or had happened before I'd realised it. If I focussed on any, or all, that that would be a waste of the rest of my life.
There are major regrets, such as loss of time with Jaykub, but again that was not either of our faults.
So I suppose I can say that I learnt when I lost him, that regret will always be there, but if I try as hard as possible every day, then the regrets will be small, but mostly out of my control.
I suppose my biggest regret that is my fault is that of the number of times I lose patience, lose my temper - and at present I'm trying hard to learn to curb that - over the last few weeks especially Mum & Dad have both aged, and I get frustrated when they don't remember things, that frustration I do regret - and I pray that I can really learn to curb it.
But whatever - I must learn to "accept and move on" - my life is too short!
