Andrew's Baptism

Feb 25, 2010 14:00

I said last week that last Sunday we were going to Andrew's baptism - and I haven't got round to reporting back!

It was a long day - but truly special.

A long ramble about the service )

andrew, tim and claire, baptism, nick and brenda, faith, camera, mum and dad

It was a very special day, as you can imagine - and just great that it went well, and were able to spend his special day with Andrew.

I love how special your church makes baptism. I'd love to be able to chose hymns and such. We don't do that. We just have infant baptism and then at around 13/14, confirmation. I'd imagine our confirmation is similar to your guys baptisms, minus the water. Do you have infant baptisms also?

Yes, I was able to chose my hymns, whereas Nick and Tim had to share as they were baptised together - LOL

Yes, adult baptism is our own personal commitment, so similar to confirmation.

We don't have infant baptism - but some families have a dedication service, or similar, although ours never bothered.

Same with my old church.

My new church has infant baptism and confirmation - which I just find weird. If I ever have kids, I'm not doing it that way. Adult baptism is much better!

Congrats to your nephew!

Thanks - yes, this way we, as adults, get the choice as to whether we want to make a commitment to God.

It was a special day for us all, but especially Andrew.

That's such a wonderful memory! I was lucky to be baptized (as an adult) on the same day as xphilehb.

Thank you - it was both special for Andrew in his commitment, but lovely for the whole family to be able to celebrate together.
