Ring, ring, ring.

What's that sound? That, my dear Nexus-goers, is the sound of your PINpoints, mobiles, rotary phones, phone booths, and other various communication devices ringing. Or buzzing. Or whatever it is that they happen to do.

"I don't mind at all. I do it enough myself. I am... plentiful in the Nexus, aren't I? It's stressful enough, meeting past and future versions of myself, and that's usually under the worst of crises, and now past and future - and present! - alternate versions of myself... one does grow tired of one's own company, eventually. And I don't have much to say to myself, frankly, when there isn't some problem to be solved between us. It's extremely awkward, you know, when conversations dwindles like that between myselves. You stand there and think well, this is awkward, isn't it? And a century or two later you're standing there looking at yourself and you think oh dear, he's standing there thinking about how awkward this is, how very awkward."

The Doctor pauses for a breath. "Haven't met any evil ones, though." And that's only a half of a lie, because he knows that darker (not 'evil', he doesn't like that word) versions of him exist, he just hasn't actually met them yet.

"Alternate realities and their respective Selves can be... unpleasant. I'm sorry. Is there any way to differentiate you from the others?"
