Shard shakes her head. "Not what I meant. I...want to go back to where I'm from." She pauses. "Erm. Where I was before." Which still isn't exactly right, but still.
"Sorry, I must have misheard you. Well. It's all right to want to leave. While you likely made friends...nothing can replace family. You shouldn't feel bad. But keep in mind you may have to start over anyways even with the support of your family."
"Totally. I so know what you mean." Small smile, and she grabbed another hovercraft toy 'car' out of her purse and handed it to Jude. Now he could race them!
Shard smiles, running her fingers back through her hair. "Thanks. I guess I just feel a little bad, wanting to run out on these people who have done so much for me. It's kind of a moot point, of course. Don't know how to get home in the first place."
"It's pretty bad if they need help," he agreed-- that situation sucked. "But it would be better if they learned to stand on their own, right? And you're helping while you're there. That's something. It doesn't sound like anything you ever wanted or agreed to do, so it wouldn't be right for them to hold you responsible."
"I'm a trained peacekeeping officer. Standing between people and anything trying to hurt them is kind of the norm." She shrugs. It's just a thing. The end of it gets a nod. "Yeah. The way I got there in the first place isn't open to me anymore."
"Huh. Nice." Tim is all suited up, himself, though obviously this Shard wouldn't know whether anything were different or not (nothing significant is). Even though it wasn't so long ago that he had something of a unattainable-older-sister-of-friend/awesome-hot-teacher crush, he sounds absently professional and seems to be genuinely looking at the suit rather than what's filling it. His head is tilted a bit, his expression neutral-relaxed.
"I'm guessing stealth wasn't an issue. How's the traction?" He nods at the boots.
... yeah, it might be weird, being addressed like this out of the blue by a 5'3", very obviously sixteen years old (if not younger) boy in a lightly armored black and red uniform.
Shard glances over the outfit, noting the armor and taking stock of it herself. It doesn't look that bad, really. And no, she doesn't notice anything out of the usual. She'd have to remember knowing Tim at all, first.
She looks down at the Zero suit and laughs. "You haven't seen my other suit. Stealth? Really not an issue." She scuffs one boot along the floor. "Traction is really good, thankfully. I get into a lot of spots where loosing my footing would be a really bad idea."
"Makes sense, if I haven't seen it." His armoring is pretty much street level, designed to take blows and stop bullets while remaining light and flexible enough to move.
Tim is vaguely aware of the timeflooding but Owlman had said not to go, which meant that he had to, which meant that that was probably what Owlman really wanted in the first place, which meant that he was probably doing what Owlman wanted but that's okay because his connection to the Nexus is more important than Owlman's curiosity and Shard's answers are only borderline off at most, so he sees no reason to make things messy.
"Heh. Can't think of any time it'd be a good idea. Anyway. Sometimes the best thing about having a home is that it's there to go back to."
"Space pirates shooting at you or aliens trying to chew on you is usually a little worse than average. And there are a few where loosing your footing could lead to something interesting." Yes, she is thinking about sex. And sort of mentioning it to Tim. Yeah, this isn't the Shard he's used to.
She nods at the last bit. "True. Even if it's not so easy to get to."
Sorry, Terry. Even if you were your normal self, Shard wouldn't recognize you. Sad. Especially since she was kind of responsible for getting you drunk that first time.
She still smiles easily, though. "Good. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one, then. It's not that I don't like the people I'm working for or with. But...it's not home, either."
"You know a good way to surf the timestream and get where you're actually heading? Let me know." That's about the only thing keeping her from actually trying it.

Little Jude was sitting next to Victor on a Convenient Nexus Couch, pushing a tiny toy hovercraft and making whirring-zoomy sounds.

He looks sympathetic, then. "You're stuck?"
