I'm in a rare Star Wars fanfic-reading mood, but of course everything I click on seems to be either an AU of an AU or OOC mush. In fairness, it probably doesn't help that my fic craving is ridiculously specific, like 'Anakin and the Jedi and slavery, post TPM' or 'Luke, Leia, Han wartime bonding during the OT'. Sure, that'll be on the first page of ( Read more... )

fanfic, star trek, rambling

...that is the best description of Voyager I've ever heard.

Right? And then there's Tuvok, who must wonder why he bothered to leave his quarters some days.

I hadn't heard about Sherlock - that is fantastic and about time, too!

Absolutely! What is it now, 18 months or so? Ah, BBC scheduling.

SHHHEEERRRRRRLOOOOOCCCCKKKKKKK

There had better be a way to watch it online, that's all I can say. Stupid cable company, only including BBC America in the outrageously expensive service tier... Well, I got Doctor Who via Amazon Instant Video, maybe they'll have Sherlock too. Or iTunes will. Someone. They'd better. *twitches*

Hey, did you see there's a Tintin movie coming out? I know not a single thing about Tintin, but I trust your taste and the commercials look interesting. I think I'm going to have to see it.

^^ That was more or less exactly my response. XD

I know I've read that PBS Masterpiece will be airing it in the US mid-2012, which is supremely unhelpful but all I've seen about US airdates. Hopefully it'll be somewhere online for you! (Don't even get me started on the completely dire situation with streaming TV in Australia. We have nothing! No Hulu, Netflix or Instant Video. It's depressing.)

Oh, so conflicted about the Tintin movie. I'm half looking forward to it and half terrified that they'll Hollywood it up and ruin it. The suspense is killing me! The trailers look promising though, so maybe everything will be okay. :P So are the books just not around in the US then? I've read that Spielberg had never heard of them until a French review likened them to Indy, which was mind-boggling.

Well, after a cliffhanger like that! Apparently the BBC is trying to kill us all. :P ( ... )

I know! Horrible cliffhanger. I get the feeling this series isn't going to be any better, given the last story they're adapting. (Um. Ignore this if you don't know what I'm talking about. Spoilers...)

In fairness we do have 'tv on demand' type things where you can go to the website for the channel and stream the episode, but it's pretty useless for the most part. The ABC has a BBC-style iView which is all right. Nothing that you can pay to order and stream what you want to watch, though.

The Tintin-dog association might possibly come from Rin Tin Tin? I know a lot of people here get the two confused. :P And Tintin does have a dog called Snowy, so there is that. I'm hoping that the movie is fairly faithful -- I know they're amalgamating a couple of stories, but what I've heard so far is promising, so fingers crossed.

Oh, and I got the package yesterday! I will email you properly, but thank you. *hugs*

They were originally supposed to be screening around November, so it's been quite a wait, but not too much longer now. (Ignoring the wait until they actually get around to screening it in Australia and the US, that is...)
