Shore Excursions and Walking Stomachs

Urgh. I had added a credit card to my Allivet (vet pet meds) account because it was missing, which was weird. And I changed my billing address. Then I received a message that the charge didn't go though. So on the phone I went, and apparently the change to the address didn't go through. Le sigh. But it's fixed.

Pretty sure any letter from the IRS is heart attack inducing! Glad it was something you already knew :)

I have occasionally had luck rubbing a bit of bar soap on the zipper and slowly tugging it down past the part where it's snagged.

Too bad they can't do the snow removal! I had an electric snowblower I liked because I didn't have to mix gas/oil, I didn't have to really do anything to maintain it, and it was easy to start.

Yeah, I’d prefer an electric snow blower, but it probably would have to be cordless because I’m not sure where an outlet is.

I've heard, though I don't know of its validity, that - as a rule - smaller dogs have more energy and are more high-strung. The only explanation is that their smaller size makes them more vulnerable and thus become more aggressive.

I wish I knew how to safely detach a zipper from a lining. I've ruined a lining or two because of an errant zipper.

I’ve always thought of bigger dogs as more mellow. I’m not sure how valid that is.

I'd be nervous too if I got a letter from the IRS as well, but thankfully it was something you already knew.

More than collies? I had a collie growing up and used to brush her. I always said that we got enough fur from the brushing to make a whole new dog :)

Probably as much. It's just shorter hairs. They have the double coat collies have. Probably easier to brush.

I've read a bunch of these books. Cozy Corgi Mystery Series

Some friends had both collies and corgis. They said corgis are collies with short legs. Corgis are popular with the hunter/jumper crowd so I know several people who have them. They're adorable.

I have never understood the popularity of "doodle" dogs. To me they are cross-bred dogs, and it's a crap-shoot of personality and coat. People pay a fortune for them. Why not just get a poodle? I had a poodle growing up and she was incredibly smart. She lived to be 16.

Our two current dogs were through a no-kill shelter. They were litter-mates, being fostered in a home with another dog (named Shorty). Nearly 7 years later I am still amazed at our luck finding them. That may be an option for you.

There are more doodle dogs on rescue groups than poodles, at least if you wanted large dogs. Was your poodle mellow or energetic? There is one doodle dog on the rescue page with heartworm who has the sweetest face. If she’s still available when I’m ready, I might apply for her. I was thinking maybe her and two corgi puppies, although the puppies would have to wait until after my Italy trip in June.
