I found a Butter Chicken slow cooker recipe that I want to try. I just ordered some Garam Masala spices from Amazon. It should get here on Monday, so I can make Butter Chicken next week. And Walmart has Basmati Rice.

That recipe sounds good. I get hungry just reading it.

Two things sprang out at me: They don't give you any measurements. How much garlic, how much Garam Masala? And: What on earth is kosher salt? *lol* That sounds like "vegan water". :-D And they are clearly not cooking "kosher" because then there would be no cream with the chicken... I'm baffled.

They gave the measurements way down on the page, where they had the actual recipe. I wish that food bloggers didn't write reams about the food before actually giving the recipe. Kosher salt is coarser-grained that ordinary salt. They sell it here in grocery stores.

I hope that it will be good! I got the spices and the rice cooker today!

Ah, thank you! Yes, this food blogging thing with the lot of text is a weird habit.

Oh, okay, we call that "ocean salt" even though it may not actually be from an ocean. But that makes sense. Although, when you season food with it and then cook it for 8 hours, it's likely to dissolve just like normal salt.

I fell into librarianship because I thought that it was something that I could do despite my illness, but found that I really enjoy it. And I worked with the people on our team before I joined it, so I had an idea of how it would be like. But this is my second career, so I haven't been following a linear path.

The recipe sounds awesome, but I don't know what some of the spices are. How did it turn out?

I haven't made it yet. I just got the spices and rice cooker. I think that I'll make the sauce tomorrow night and stick it in the slow cooker on Wednesday.
