Shopping Among the Unmasked

I threw the I-Ching, and it was very positive about my learning Portuguese for what it's worth.

Italian went well. We were studying direct objects and (yay) future tense! That will help in conversation. My Italian teacher is into Eastern philosophy and went to a meditation retreat, so we talked about that a little. He also speaks Tibetan!

I am so grateful that masks are obligatory here in shops.

In theory it is here too, but people are ignoring it. And people have shot people who try to enforce it, so I don't blame the shop workers for not doing anything.

You must be good with languages. I would master the vocabulary and verb tenses and still not be able to converse in the language. I can read signs and generally understand what is said to me, so that helps, but my ability to converse just never developed, no matter how hard I tried, or how much time I spent in the countries.

My Italian teacher makes me talk to him for 15 minutes. I stumble over my words though. But the practice helps.

I'm using Fluent Forever for Italian, but mostly spend time on the handouts from my teacher. I'm using a Web site, Practice Portuguese, for Portuguese.

I watched a news story yesterday and the news showed a store, not sure which one and everyone in the store was unmasked except for about 3 people. I just cannot believe how many people out there would rather catch this than be safe.
