Errand and Italian Day

Hmm. Salem and Eugene, OR, don't seem to have a lot of COVID cases. If I did travel, that might be the place to go. I looked at hotels. I could probably do the trip for around $1000. Good to know. I was mulling over whether to check out some 55+ places in Portland. I'd have to rent a car though, and it would decrease the time that I could spend in ( Read more... )

Oregon seems like a beautiful place. I've heard some good things about Portland before.

Naps are the best :)

I love it when Lucy gets the zoomies, she does the funniest things like jumping up the doorway and peeking around the corner, as if she wanted to say: "o hi, just checking in" :D

I've been to Portland and loved it. Too bad that it's expensive to live in.

I was glad to have Zara on my lap, even if I was a launching pad.

Sounds like a very full day of kitty refereeing, cooking prep and the like. I hope you will be able to relax a bit this weekend and enjoy it.

I'm afraid my French is in the same condition. Good luck!

I'm hoping that my Italian lessons get back to weekly. I had problems and then my teacher had problems.

I was learning it on Duolingo, but really struggling because it's so close to Spanish.

I keep coming up with French and Spanish in my Italian lessons. My teacher keeps saying, "You pronounced that like French." Oops.

Couldn’t you fly into Eugene? I believe their airport is actually pretty big.

As for knitting, there are lots of techniques for sock knitting. I would recommend using two circular needles as being much easier than four double-pointed needles. They sell bamboo circulars, which are good for travel in the U.S. Note that Latin American airports are notorious for not allowing any knitting needles.

It's cheaper to fly into Portland and then take the train, even with overnighting in Portland.

Thanks for the knitting info!

I second the recommendation for two circular needles rather than three or four double pointed ones for knitting socks. Google "magic loop knitting".

I was supposed to be in portland for a business trip earlier this year, it would have been my first time there. Up til everything got canceled people were sending me recommendations of places to go and things to see there. At some point I'll have to make the trip, it sounds lovely :)

What programming class are you taking in the fall? It's been so interesting looking at the different options of classes out there, but I just don't have the time for it.

Hope the pumpkin-zucchini bread turns out delicious!

I'm taking introductory programming in Java.
