I was thinking about that too, and d'you know what they ALSO shove in our faces? The fact that she's a HUMAN. They say it like, a thousand times, and it's always awesome, but RTD is kind of an evil genius and I don't think he'd throw around something like that without it being all kinds of suspicious too.
Dude, I'm driving this crazy train. She might not be Romana, but all signs point to Donna Noble, Secret Time Lady, and if my cracked-out theory derived from seeing literally FOUR episodes of this show, total, turns out to be CORRECT, I'm going to start renting myself out as a psychic.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I HAD COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN ABOUT THAT, OMG.
Dude. DUDE. It has to be. Every single other thing other line of dialogue from that scene has had specific meaning to these last two episodes - "she is returning," "there's something on your back," the Medusa Cascade. We're left with:
a) the Doctor's name that's hidden in the stars b) Daughter of London, who calls herself Noble
asfhaksjfhkasfhjkaf DONAN NOBLE IS A SECRET TIME LADY, NEWS AT ELEVEN.
(Have you been in the vapors today? IS YOUR ARM MADE OF STONE?)
OH. MY. GOD. I'm not insane. I could have literally heard the sound of two heartbeats beating in tandem. That's - that's insane.
I love you and your cracked out theories. I'll just sit back and marvel, because my brain doesn't work like this at all and I'm always amazed at people who can think up such things.
You should be thankful, though, because the other end of this spectrum is the ensuing, "THAT'S what it was? But-but-- my theory was so much better."
I'm actually thanking GOD for the intervening holiday between now and Saturday, because at least that'll give me something else to think about for at least 18-20 of the next 121 hours between now and Saturday (NO I DID NOT JUST CALCULATE THAT, NOT AT ALL).
LOVE IT! Have you been reading the reaction posts on doctorwho. I try to stay away from 413 spoilers, so I'm picky, but most of the ones I've seen are just. so. lovely.
I've been trying to keep within my friendslist and only a little bit outside my comfort zones into friendsfriends, because at least here I know who tends to read spoilers and who tends not to, because WHILE I MAY THEORIZE LIKE A CRAZY, I DON'T ACTUALLY WANT TO BE SPOILED FOR ANYTHING.
Oh, show. I thought Lost was the height of COMPLETELY UNINFORMED SPOILER FREE CRACK THEORY, but clearly, I was wrong. Last week was hilarious; these week should prove legendary.
There was a great crack theory -- which is so much less crack with half of fandom talking about the heartbeats -- with Sylvia picking up little adopted Donna along with a fobwatch. I went, "OMG, ME TOO!"
IDK if I want her to be Romana because . because . because it would be sooooo what fandom mocked, you know? But if she were Romana, it would be awesome to have the character back, explained easily with New Who canon.
I love Donna so much that it would be sad to lose her accomplishments to "fobwatched Romana" though.
I WANT IT TO BE SOMETHING LIKE THAT: if it does end in a reveal that Donna is MORE THAN JUST HUMAN, it needs to be in that kind of shorthand even if I don't want it to be a fob watch because that's soooooo Season 3; it needs to be something more than that.
I think I'm on board the Donna-is-Romana train simply by virtue that it's also the Donna-is-a-Time-Lady-in-general train.
