*drumroll* The Return of the Daily Drabble!

Mar 20, 2006 09:56

While warning ann_arien about the dangers of drabble addiction (and, yes, it does exist; I am surprised that the government hasn't started a coalition), digdigil mentioned that she missed the daily drabble. Remember those days? When Dawn Felagund would spam your flists with a drabble every day ( Read more... )

OMG I think I'm gonna cry. I just read "Sunshine". That was incredible, Dawn. Such emotion. And I've always loved that song, too. *sniffles*

I really did cry at that song when I was young. My uncle Wodie used to sing it all the time.

Shit. I just realized that yesterday, uncle Wodie's been gone for ten years. *sniffles* Don't mind me....

But it's still a lovely song, and I still want to cry, thinking about it. :)

WOW.

These are absolutely beautiful. I adore the last line of "The Fate of Flowers;" it made me just stop and absorb the emotion for a moment, it hit me so hard.

"The First Spring" is beautiful; I love the first day of spring! (BTW, that's when it actually feels like spring, to me; I don't care what the calender says, it's not spring here yet! I often get several first days of spring, interspersed with more winter. :-))

"Spring in Himring" is so how I feel now: cold fingers, seeing snow out the window, *trying* to write a thesis (see how well I'm doing?)... except I don't have a friend to come and cheer me up. :-( *is jealous*

And "Sunshine"! I used to cry at that song, too. Still do, at times, actually. I didn't like it then, because it made me cry, but I value tears more now. But that was absolutely beautiful.

*is very tempted to join in the daily drabbling* I know I don't have time, but... but... We'll see.

Thanks for sharing these!

Thanks so very much! I'm really glad that my return to drabbling seems to have been successful. :)

I love the first day of Spring too, even though Maryland rarely enjoys springlike weather on this day. (Last week, however, it got up into the '80s! o.O) But there's just so much to look forward to; I love this moment of having all of spring and all of summer still stretched before me, all full of possibility.

*sentimental squee*

I never knew that "You Are My Sunshine" was so universally loved...or believed to be sad by people other than me. :) Here, I thought I was weird! :^D

I hope that you can join the daily drabble on occasion! Believe me, I understand about busyness--hence the fact that the daily drabble just took a four month break--but when you can find the time and inspiration, I'd love to read what you come up with!

Unfortunately for my work, I was looking up words for my thesis in the Oxford English Dictionary and I made the mistake of looking at "paragon" on a whim. Oops. Now I have Feanor/Nerdanel plotbunnies nipping at my ankles, and I don't write Feanor! But I might have to create a drabble. Oh sad day. :-P

Oh, crap, I am really sorry that I am totally brai-ndead and unable to write any drabble right now. I have skipped my morning classes to catch up on my mails and the entries of my flist. Until I get home, chances are I will not be able to write anything.

I am, however, quite able to squee, after reading your drabbles, though.

The first one... I have no idea why but, when I saw the word paragon, I thought "paragon of virtue" and then... Feanaro. I guess we think alike on the matter, eh? In any case, the drabble is bittersweet, the love and admiration Nerdanel feels tinged with the fear that she will wither away in the shadow of such an exceptional Elf. Beautiful stuff.

"First spring" gives me the opportunity to tell you that I love the way you picture things from Maitimo's point of view. More than any other of your character's POVs. (Yes, Feanor included). You have done such a fine job of letting us feel Maitimo's joy and the way hope is rekindled in his heart. I loved it.

I'm dedicating this next one to my pals ann_arien and ( ... )

Us? Feanatics thinking alike?? Nevah! ;)

I'm sure you've caught onto the fact that I deal with Nerd's possible inferiority complex in her relationship with Feanaro quite a bit in my stories. I read the bit about how his fire became too much for her to restrain, and I think, "He was too much for her." And I imagine how she must have felt, knowing this, a sense of failure along with the loss of her marriage...it's sad. And it's not canon but definitely Felak!verse that Nerds felt a bit of this from the very beginning. She was exceptional in her own right, but Feans has the power to overshadow...well, everything.

I looked outside ten minutes ago and it is so bright and shiny, that I was inspired to write a little drabble myself. You can have a look at it here:
