*drumroll* The Return of the Daily Drabble!

While warning ann_arien about the dangers of drabble addiction (and, yes, it does exist; I am surprised that the government hasn't started a coalition), digdigil mentioned that she missed the daily drabble. Remember those days? When Dawn Felagund would spam your flists with a drabble every day ( Read more... )

I have no idea why but, when I saw the word paragon, I thought "paragon of virtue" and then... Feanaro. I guess we think alike on the matter, eh? In any case, the drabble is bittersweet, the love and admiration Nerdanel feels tinged with the fear that she will wither away in the shadow of such an exceptional Elf.

Us? Feanatics thinking alike?? Nevah! ;)

I'm sure you've caught onto the fact that I deal with Nerd's possible inferiority complex in her relationship with Feanaro quite a bit in my stories. I read the bit about how his fire became too much for her to restrain, and I think, "He was too much for her." And I imagine how she must have felt, knowing this, a sense of failure along with the loss of her marriage...it's sad. And it's not canon but definitely Felak!verse that Nerds felt a bit of this from the very beginning. She was exceptional in her own right, but Feans has the power to overshadow...well, everything.

"First spring" gives me the opportunity to tell you that I love the way you picture things from Maitimo's point of view. More than any other of your character's POVs.

Thank you! :) I related to Maedhros alone of all the characters in the Sil the first time I read it. (Even Finrod--despite choosing his name as my alias--I did not relate to. I just thought it was cool to be a "Lord of Caves." :^P) And so Maedhros has always been my first love. As I told my friend Harry Potter the other day, "If I wasn't already married to and in love with Bobby, I would want to marry Maedhros. You think I'm kidding? Really." :^P

The fourth drabble, though, must be the most impressive and moving one.

Thank you! :) It just popped into my head; I looked at the muses and said, "You want me to write what?" and they shrugged. Feanor's taking credit for it, by the way.

I will join the drabble fun, time and inspiration permitted. In the mean time, that little "He loves me, he loves me not." piece can be considered as a spring drabble, right?

Absolutely! And the daily drabble need not be daily for everyone. I miss days myself (and since I started the tradition, it's always pretty embarrassing when I have to do four-part drabble series to make up for four days of not doing any!) But I look forward to what you come up with, when you find the inspiration and the time. :)
