So. The Past Few Days.

hrymfaxe and her boyfriend left this morning after visiting since Monday afternoon. What a great time we had! I miss them already! Monday, we basically chilled and went to Arooga's for dinner. Tuesday was our big day: We spent the day in Gettysburg, which is about 45 minutes northwest of us, and had a firepit at night. We went through the museum, hoofed ( Read more... )

AMC is well worth the reading time and effort and knowledge of the Silm is not really necessary to enjoy the family picture that you so ably painted in your words ( ... )

I am so jealous that you got to spend time with Hrymfaxe and her boyfriend. I am remembering how much fun I had at the Met with her and others during her last trip.

Beautiful butterfly pictures and Lancelot.

I would love to see you work on the prequel to AMC. I am definitely one of the big AMC groupies. He should read it! And it is wonderful. I still can get lost in that world (and do periodically).

I think there is probably little in AMC that you can't understand without having read the Silmarillion--although you'd miss a lot of the foreshadowing, of course.
I guess I don't need to tell you that I'm really waiting for that prequel!

Very glad to see that you got some quality time for yourselves recently. I hope there's been enough of it for you to regenerate a bit.

Poor overheated doggy. How's she doing in all this heat with all that hair?

I read about six or seven chapters of AMC at some point, and at that point I'd only read the Akallabeth. (What can I say, I'm a Gondor baby.) I only gave up because RL got "interesting" and I never got back to it - it wasn't the story at all, which I understood pretty well once I read a Wikipedia article with Feanor's family tree and started getting the relationships straight. I found it really compelling, personally, and have always wanted to go back and read it properly...

Good for Bobby for reading AMC! I always love it when my sister reads my stuff. And she's always complimentary, even if I think it's awful. XD

Beautiful photos.

Your fall grad school classes sound awesome. Hard to believe it's almost fall. *wistful sigh*
