Yay! Found it, scanned it, know that I will LOVE it! Printing now, will read anon.

You are at work today? Isn't it a holiday for you?

Yeah, I'm at work. Good Friday isn't a State holiday anymore. It used to be...but in an effort to accomodate all religious holidays, they took away certain State holidays and gave more personal days. That way people could take off for whichever religious holidays they needed...or just have a day off (for agnostics like me!)

I support the notion...but I'm contractual and don't get personal days. So it sucks for me.

So here I am.... :^/

Enjoy the chapter! I'm fond of it myself. :)

Macalaure does sit about for while in just a towel.

*gulp*... is being twapotled by an eager muse...

I am six chapters behind and I really have to sit on my hands not to read this...

*giggles* I thought first of you when I read that section, and I thought to type, "Rhapsody, keep a cold bucket of water handy!" But I didn't know how far behind you were, so I thought I'd be nice. ;)

Sowwy for the temptation! :^))

Well, I managed to read all those delightful chapters in one weekend. The talk between Nelyo and Kano (yes I know you name Findekano, Kano as well, but Kano is Maglor's nick so I keep on reading him there LOL) in this chapter was incredibly emotional to read. Sometimes I think we see Nelyo coming to the surface again, as if he finally remembers how to breathe after being under the water (of pain) so long.

We are either self-chosen pariahs-earning suspicious looks from some-or we heighten the tension within our family. Spirit of Fire, I think, and he was rightfully named, for he inspires conflagration in those around him who would normally be content to lie in peace. Bitterly, I think that this is an unfair predicament into which to place children ( ... )

he threatened to-if his bare feet had to touch the cold floor (because I had to remove his rug to be laundered after he tried to paint a design on it)- suffice to pee in his bed.

To perpetrate our father’s attitudes gives weight to some peoples’ feelings that our family is impetuous and selfish;

I do not think these words mean what you think they mean.

Findekano inhabits barely a sliver of my king-sized bed

So Aman has American bed sizes? Or is it the size of an actual king?

Angsty-teenager!Maglor! *loves*

I knew from the beginning that the guest was Rúmil. I think it was your little chibific about Carnistir interacting with him and his opinions of him being misunderstood that sealed it for me.

Dude, now I've got mental images of Feanor being something like an SCA geek, except that he prefers to fuse the old crafts with modern technology than to recreate period items and materials exactly.

"Perpetrate" is supposed to be "perpetuate." I do that a lot; type the wrong word but type in its place a real, similar-sounding word that the spell check doesn't catch. Thanks for the good eye. :)

(Now laughs at perpetratin' Elves.)

As for "suffice," the meaning I have says to "meet present needs or requirements," which seems (to me) to fit the context in which it was used. If Nelyo doesn't take Carni to the loo, the bed will meet his requirements as a proper voiding place. I've heard it used in this fashion many times, so unless it's just a local misspeak, then I don't see how it is incorrect.

So Aman has American bed sizes? Or is it the size of an actual king?

I don't know of another way to convey it. (?)

*shakes head*

Feanor(pout): I am not a geek!

Me: Honey, face it. You are. A drop-dead gorgeous, brilliant, fascinating... *rants for 15 minutes*... amazing Elf. But you're still a geek.

Feanor: Well, if I'm a geek, and you are obsessed with me like me so much, than you must be a geek, too.

Me: Duh! Genius...

...DUDE. Trekkie!Feanor. Dammit, now I'm going to be giggling for the rest of the day.

As for the bed, Greek beds come in "single" and "double", for example. Or perhaps Maglor's bed is simply "huge"?

Feanor and Melkor...I'd say "I think I read a slashfic like that once", but I think that if I ever found one, I ran away screaming.

And Carnistir isn't doing the sufficing, the bed is. You have him as the subject of that sentence, which is why it's off.

*happy sigh*

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. This chapter has left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Although there were pretty creepy moments in it. Topped by Feanaro's idea of a mask for Rumil. (Ahem! Are you sure it's Rumil, and not...say, you, going to the feast disguised as Teh Precious? If it were me, Feany would have made me a mask of his beautiful face.) The whole thing was fascinating and I loved the way Feanaro acknowledged Maitimo's beauty with something close to reverence.

Maitimo and Findekano together... Awwww! So very sweet! I'll tell you, Maitimo has got everything it takes to make a great father. Pity he does not get the chance to actually become one.

Maitimo and Macalaure(wearing only a towel)... Cute! And their conversation/Nelyo's thoughts are so full of foreboding.

But Maitimo and Feanaro... Dawn, what are you doing to me?

This:

He tucks a loosening tendril of my hair behind my ear, leaving his hand to linger, flat and very warm, against my cheek. I smile and resume my work on his drawings, while he rests ( ... )

If it were me, I'd go in a mask of Annawende. And take proper advantage of the deception. >:^))

Yes, pity all the missed opportunities of writing begetting scenes.

*AHEM* What I meant to say was that I totally agree with you. And while my characters seem to involve their own personalities independent of what I want them to be at times, that Nelyo should be a nurturing person was one thing that I did very intentionally. I think that it helps to explain a lot of later history, including why he wasn't rescued from Thangorodrim. (I've always held that he ordered his brothers not to pursue him if he did not return. One of my biggest peeves is stories where the brothers are too cowardly or obsessed with the Silmarils to go after him. I mean, ( ... )

One of my biggest peeves is stories where the brothers are too cowardly or obsessed with the Silmarils to go after him. I mean, really!) And the fact that he seems to wield some version of control over "certain brothers" (*cough* the3Cs! *cough*) has always suggested to me that they had a great deal of love and respect for him.Oh, indeed! It irks me to bits, when the "cowards" card is pulled out on the brothers. Like, hello! How does Maitimo's imprisonment or even death help with getting back the Silmarils. It never fails to amaze me how people ignore the fact that the brothers must have felt even more lost and miserable without Maitimo, since the younger ones certainly would have looked up to him as they would to a second father. It just goes to prove that, after they get Maitimo back, despite the three Cs being totally against his decision to give up the Kingship, they all fallow him Eastward, they all answer to his summons and they probably go to ( ... )

ROFL! Ha! If Morgoth gets his right hand and you get his ear(s), can I have the rest of him? Gah, he'll soon be called Mishaped One, if I keep doing this.

Eek! I only want them attached to his body! *silently weeps for her Nelyo*

Btw, Nelyo-the-unicorn-and-company-mascot is also glaring at you. (That's him in the icon!) ;)

You do that. I'm not quite prepared for Teh End, either.

It sounds kinda cheesy to say, "AMC changed my life!" but really, it has.

I was a nobody, a chronic lurker, until I got my gumption to post a chapter and enismirdal gave me that little nudge of encouragement to post more...and the rest is history. It's been a wild nine months, and I've met friends I never imagined having. And gotten a lot of confidence too. And learned a lot. :)

So it's kind of sad to let go, even as I'm happy to have time to devote to new projects.

But I will be revising AMC and posting it in bona fide archives, so it's never really finished. And there's always stories wanting to be written ( ... )

Okay, if I were Nelyo, I would be seriously disturbed with the mask. (I've also always thought it'd be weird to have an action figure of yourself.)

Am I ambitious then?? Hmmm...

I forgot specifics of course, but this time I blame being wrapped up in the sleep warm father-son moment. :)

Very good! I am going to be sad when its over. You're going to have to post something on the first Friday in May, because reading AMC is part of my Friday routine, and you wouldn't want to mess me up on the last day of school, right? ;)

Of course not! I will find something to post. Maybe I'll do a story of all the daily drabble words I've been missing. *hides under desk*

There's always a story in my crazy lil' skull, waiting to be written. I owe Levade a story too; maybe I'll post that on the first Friday in May. :)
