No. Just No.

Sorry, omcityyoga, but Barack Obama did not win a presidential election just so that you could post your fourth commercial davis_square ad in five weeks. I'm deleting this:

I personally would vote at this point, as a reader, that you take harsher measures. Not banning, necessarily, but definitely telling her she's on thin ice.

I added a comment saying exactly what I said here, then deleted the post. I hope s/he gets the point this time.

DON'T MAKE US GET SNARKY AT YOU. YOU WOULDN'T LIKE US WHEN WE'RE SNARKY.

Hmm. Maybe we should revisit establishing a rule about frequency of ads?

My rec is max one a month.

The owner is probably a very nice person whom I'd enjoy meeting, but she doesn't understand LJ or davis_square at all.

She especially doesn't understand the emotional investment many davis_square participants had in the Obama campaign, and why we might interpret her ad as trivializing the election result.

Yeah, that was my recommendation. I vote for once a month, honestly.

We haven't yet heard from the other two moderators, but once a month sounds reasonable for most purposes. I'd apply this only to commercial businesses, not to non-profit arts organizations such as Honkfest, theatre@first, and the Nave Gallery. It also wouldn't apply to individuals advertising yard sales or stuff for sale.

Even so, I'd want to be a little flexible. If the Somerville Theatre has two or three special events in one month, it would seem wrong to allow them to announce only one of them.

I dunno, if they had multiple events in a month, they could do a single post, and I think that'd be fine.

Otherwise, you need to delineate the criteria for being flexible, because, as you've seen, otherwise people will push the envelope.
