We had a spam post in the community about a local meal-in-a-box style service, complete with convenient coupon. It did not feel like a real post, and so I removed it. 

andybridal made a post titled "which style dou you like ?(i love all of them)" consisting entirely of lots of photos of bridal gowns. Since the user's profile identifies his location as "suzhou, Suzhou Municipality, China", and the post has no discernable local relevance to Davis Square, I deleted the post and am banning the user.

Not quite spam, but did he do this to all of the recent yard sale posts?

Haven't they posted enough about their yoga place? I'd propose some rule like no more than 1 spam post every few months.

I asked Om City not to post any more ads for a while, because this is their third one this month.

My apologies if this has been posted before, I've noticed more advertising on the davis site recently.  The things on the side of the page are only mildly annoying, but the ads that appear mid thread when you are reading are a pain, is there a way to have that set not to happen, or is it a LJ thing that cannot be changed ( Read more... )

I delete a post similar to this one, except that it had no lj-cut. I explained to the OP that job ads for organizations outside of Somerville really don't belong in davis_square. (Though I probably should have said "outside of Somerville or North Cambridge".) If we allow them, they would flood out all other traffic. Also, the OP wasn't posting for ( Read more... )
