While my brother, SIL, and their two kids were visiting us our new cat came out of his carrier and scampered under the futon in the guest bedroom. That was the last place we saw him. My brother and sister-in-law who are driving in from Binghamton volunteered to stop at the breeder in NJ and pick up the cat for us. They should be here any minute.

I bought kitty litter, a pan for it, cat food, 2 bowls, and a cat toy this afternoon, but this evening the traffic is so heavy that according to Channel 4's on-line traffic navigator a trip that would normally take an hour would take three hours, so we'll get our cat on Saturday instead.

Many thanks to tamidon whose friend adopted two cats who do not get along and to bethr who alerted me to tamidon's el jay post. This evening I'm driving to the breeder in NJ (about an hour west of us) to get Chuny, who is a male Peterbald (a recent breed--a cross between a Don Sphinx and an Oriental--that is good for allergy sufferers). Out with the old: 1995 Buick Century, in with the less old: 1999 Nissan Maxima. The Century was approaching 130K miles and had mechanical problems; the Maxima has just under 64K miles and is much more comfortable for both driver and passenger, though highway MPG will be a tad less economical.

or at least that's what it feels like. The first thing that clued me in was dizziness--as if the room were spinning around. I haven't actually vomited, but my stomach is sending me messages that tell me to eat lightly if at all. I'm sipping peppermint tea, which helps a bit.

Yesterday was gray and rainy; a friend from shul came by around 4:25 pm and a neighbor and her 2 kids visited an hour later. Today was sunny and 17 people visited. Shosh sold a small painting and a few refrigerator magnets with an image of one of her paintings; I sold two copies of my translation of Little Promises and a print-out of one of my ( Read more... )
