So I read a LastFM article today. It had alot of interesting info except one thing I still don't understand how does LastFM make money.
They pay money to the record industry or individual artists but where does that money come from? -

An article on slashdot brings to mind the idea of intellectual property tax. Basically to hold a copy write you pay some form on tax on the value of the copy write.
