Oct 23, 2013 12:20

The wind is picking up around me although it's been gustier to the south for quite a while. Lots of helicopters working on preventing flare ups of existing fires and trying to nip spotfires for lightning strikes last night in the bud ( Read more... )

I'm glad things are still okay with you. I've been checking in to read your updates. Stay safe, Lady Cicada! How is your surprise houseguest? lol.

He was getting rather agitated and tried to walk out of the house a couple of times, so after much deliberation, I decided to put him down in a stand of trees by the creek behind me that was full of the same species as him. He'd been able to do his 'love call', and the trees are close enough together so he won't have to fly. I thought it would be better to let him have a chance to do his cicada thing. He may get eaten by a bird, but all cicadas risk that, and mostly they get caught by birds when they're in mid flight.

He happily climbed up into the crowd when I released him yesterday evening and so Nemo is out in the wide, wide (in cicada terms) world now.

OOPS - it was the evening before that I let him go - sorry, I'm a bit frazzled. I checked around yesterday evening to make sure he wasn't dead and didn't see any signs, so I'm hoping he's stil up there, chirping away.

So..at the risk of you beating me with a Disney DVD...I guess you won't be Finding Nemo anytime soon, eh? BWHAHAHAHAAHHA!!!

*cough*

Sorry. Someone had to say it. lol.

I'm sure he's fine. Being the stud that he is, he's probably just using his story to woo the ladies.

Yes, I can see the resemblance between you and Madeye Moody. I think it's the way your false eye swivels around when you're cranky.

I'm so knackered at the moment that I feel as if both my eyes are swivelling in opposite directions.

Now the wind has dropped and things are stabilising and what was feared to be a catastrophic day was not quite as bad as feared (still bad, but it could have been so very much worse) - I'm hoping I get some decent sleep tonight - it will make the world of difference to my well-being.
