Is the storm really not going to affect Metro Manila? I'm still really scared. Been scared since 2006 typhoon Milenyo. But we didn't panic buy yesterday. I heard the lines at the grocery stores were really long.

I didn't really have to buy batteries for light.

Lampara's are prone to fire. You should also get a battery-operated mini desk fan. I bought mine from Firefly. Its very useful esp for your newborn baby coz I experienced a 6hr brownout and I was the human electric fan of my baby and my hubby and it was so frustrating that I was awake the whole time! It works for four hours and thats not bad :)

candles are prone to fire. lamparas have been used since pre-rizal. whichever you use, never leave fire unattended.

My dad bought it in Toronto. I'm sure it's in the U.S.

I got mine from Brookstone but my husband said he's seen these at LL Bean and Lands End. They also have radios :)

lamps and crank flashlight elcondematador October 6 2009, 03:53:15 UTC
your flashlight is better than mine..for one , i broke the cranking gear. but i shall fix it soon. the lamps in your house reminds me of my mom's 300 year old house in Bolinao ( it was burned down in 1988, exactly 300 yaers after it was built).
