He had actually managed to some of that long put-off Chemistry homework done tonight. Tuesday nights had unofficially become a time of productivity; both Sindre and Kai were at work, and it was too early to look forward to the weekend, but not early enough to pretend his education wasn't a pressing commitment.

He'd been right in the middle of it when his phone started vibrating and Kai's name popped up, causing Valdi to do a double take. Wasn't he meant to be at work?
Hesitating with confusion, he brought the phone up to his ear.

Aaannnddd suddenly the papers in front of him were much, much less important.
"Hey, what's up? Did Sindre let you off early?"

"Valdi?" He ushered out, neglecting to even hear the sentence uttered to him. His voice was muffled, tinged with a brimming panic as well as the pain of regret. He swore to himself that he wouldn't cry; it was a promise he'd work very hard to keep this time around. "V-Valdi, I.."

Kai's thoughts were a jumbled mess, and they were relayed in such a manner when he tried to explain what happened. "Just.. oh God there was a fire, the store was on fire, and Sindre got stuck under a bookshelf and got hurt and,, I-I know he's safe, I know he's here somewhere, I don't know where though 'cause they won't let me go see him yet--"

His lack of breath started to catch up with the ramble of his thoughts, turning his head to cough harshly off to the side and not into the receiver. His throat stung terribly but he continued in a pinched voice, breathing uneasy. "Polish guy and Willem were there too, I don't know where they are either, maybe with Sindre, and-- We're at the hospital. Some hospital, is there more than one? I don't really know

At the sound of the other floundering he switched his means of communication, sliding into Danish if it would make anything easier for the other man. "I'm fine, I'm fine, my lungs hurt but I'm fine," Kai breezily murmured, then hesitated, taking a glance around to make sure a nurse wasn't approaching his station. "Worry about finding Sindre; they just want to keep me here until my breathing is better, was a lot of smoke, breathed in a whole bunch and my lungs ain't so good anyway, so.."

He felt terrible telling Valdi all of this, but the weight of the situation was better levered by himself than some unfeeling nurse or doctor, he figured. "Whatever is the biggest hospital-- Sindre's there. Just worry about finding him. I'm fine."
