5 Things Josh Peck Knows About Drake Bell

5. Drake Bell is a damn good musician. He loves music more than oxygen. This isn’t an exaggeration.

If there was one thing Drake Bell had to have with him at all times when not on set and shooting a scene, it was his guitar. Always strumming away at that guitar.

Sometimes Josh would just sit around Drake while he played random chords, humming and mumbling inaudible lyrics. It was soothing, comforting, Zen-like. If there was one thing that could always calm Josh down after a long day’s work, it was the sound Drake’s fingers make when they pluck at those strings.

And although Josh enjoys his beat-popping, rhythmic tunes and finds great pleasure in mixing his own freestyle verses in with some music while driving or walking or riding in elevators, he also has every single Drake Bell song ever recorded on his iPod. And whenever a friend of his steals his iPod and scrolls through his artists, they always pause at Drake Bell, scoff and poke a little fun at Josh.

He isn’t embarrassed though. Drake Bell is his best friend. Everyone knows that. It would be only right for him to have at least half of the guy’s songs on his iPod. He always ends up making a snarky comment to the laughing friend, easily getting him to shut up and hand back his player.

It’s whenever he’s on a plane or in a car or on set and there isn’t anyone to talk to or anything better to do and Josh starts thinking about how he wishes Drake was there - that’s when he puts in his ear-buds and plays his favorite songs (if you checked his iTunes playlist for Most Played, you’d see the name Drake Bell on every other line).

Drake Bell knows how to write good songs. Beautiful chord structures, eloquent and fun lyrics, upbeat intros and bridges - Josh could rave forever about how amazing Drake is at making music.

There’s another kind of music Drake Bell makes that Josh loves. The kind of music Josh wishes he could have on his iPod (although this would cause many problems and raise so many questions, bring up so many issues and conflicts that Josh doesn’t have the energy to deal with).

Drake Bell is a screamer. A moaner. A name caller. And Josh’s third favorite song?

“Please, again! Right there.”

Second favorite song?

“Fuck, yes!”

First?

“Oh, Josh! Josh, Josh, Josh.”

That Drake Bell, what a talented musician.

4. Drake Bell can get away with anything. Anything. All he has to do? Flash those pearly whites of his. Say something charming and cute.

Josh makes jokes. People laugh. But it doesn’t get him his way. Not like Drake can.

It must be his innocent guise, Josh thinks. Like he’s saying, “I’m Drake Bell and I’m so sweet and innocent. Let me drop a bowling ball on your foot. Oh, I’m sorry! Did that hurt? I had no idea.”

Josh has seen it in action, too. When getting called down to shoot a scene, and Drake wasn’t ready quite yet, he’d look the cast lady in the eye and say, “Please Linda. Fifteen more minutes. I’m this close to figuring out the chorus to my new song. If I don’t get it out now, I don’t think I’ll ever get it right.”

It worked.

The time where Drake and Jerry were testing out gum wrappers, seeing if when licked and then stuck to the forehead they would burn the skin, Drake did it again. Miranda should have known, and maybe she did, but Drake just flashed her that innocent grin of his and it was all over from there.

Josh is acutely aware of Drake’s not-so-secret power and its control. When Drake wants Josh to let him pick the radio station? Josh lets him. When Drake decides that Josh should wear this suit and not the one Josh has on? Josh changes. When Drake wants to sneak onto the Drake & Josh set at one in the morning so they can have sex in Josh Nichol’s bed? Josh puts on a jacket and grabs his keys. When Drake is late for a lunch date, all sweaty and out of breath, and he says he got caught up testing out his juggling skills with the iCarly crew? Josh pretends to believe him.

It didn’t matter what it was. Big or small. Reasonable or outlandish. Due to him or unfair. As long as Drake wanted it, he got it.

Josh was glad that Drake wanted him.

Josh wasn’t too glad that Drake may also wanted someone else.

3. Drake Bell is ridiculously good looking. Like, unbelievably.

Not that Josh is ugly. Josh was becoming more and more aware every day of his newly found attractiveness. It was a little strange, what with all those years of being the fat kid with a high pitched voice, especially when the fangirls became more adamant and crazy. Josh was getting naked pictures. From fans.

Drake had laughed at him when Josh told him this.

“Dude, I’ve been getting naked pictures for years.”

Of course he had. Drake had always been naturally handsome. Pretty. Sexy. Hot.

Oh, so fucking hot.

And the funny thing? Josh never envied Drake’s good looks. Made fun of him? Yes. Envied? No.

Josh couldn’t envy someone who blushed and stammered when told he is beautiful.

Which Drake would do. He would grin shyly, scratch the back of his head, give a “Oh, gee. Thanks. You’re so nice.” look and then try to change the subject,

Even when Josh was kissing a line from Drake’s neck to his navel, Josh would murmur, “So gorgeous,” and Drake would laugh lightly and blush even deeper than he already was.

It turned Josh on. So much.

Drake Parker was beautiful in clothing skin tight - jeans that hugged his legs and sat so low that Josh could see that sweet, taunting hip bone jut out and calling for him to bend down and bite. In clothing that hung from his body - old sweaters that Josh used to wear back in his fat kid days, sweaters that Drake would be swimming in and look so coy and alluring.

But Josh’s favorite was when Drake wore no clothes at all.

Drake had natural clothing that made Josh imagine God as a painter, one that had created a masterpiece named Jared Drake Bell.

Every freckle, every hair, every vein - Josh loved them all. He could spend hours licking and nipping and sucking every inch of Drake’s body. Stroking and thrusting and pulling just to see what kind of expressions Drake would make.

All beautiful. So Gorgeous.

Josh couldn’t get enough.

2. Drake Bell can’t hold his liquor.

Not that Drake drinks all that often. For one, Drake knows he can’t hold his liquor, so he doesn’t drink very frequently. For two, because Drake doesn’t drink frequently, he can’t hold his liquor.

But when he does drink, and when he does get trashed, Drake Bell is hilarious.

One New Year’s Eve, Drake and Josh were at a small party with some close friends. It was private and free of paparazzo, so they had decided to let loose a little. To Josh, this meant to take a hit of that joint being passed around and get a little high. To Drake, this meant to down one cup of Jack Daniels and end up dancing on the table singing “Yellow Submarine.”

Next thing Josh knew, his hand was being pulled on and Drake was requesting him to do something completely and utterly ridiculous.

“Please Josh!”

“No!”

“C’mon! So much fun, Josh!”

“No!”

“Oh, c’mon, Josh! Please?”

A flash of those pearly whites and Josh was taking off his jacket and grumbling his displeasure.

That would be the New Year’s Eve everyone would remember, the one where Drake and Josh reenacted the Drake & Josh dance, with a few improvised body grinding and groping. When it was over, Josh was panting and thanking God he had gotten healthier in the past few years. And to be honest? Drake was right. It was fun.

What wasn’t fun was the drunken phone calls Josh receives once in a blue moon. The ones where Drake is slurring and sputtering and Josh is pretty sure he doesn’t want to know what Drake’s trying to say.

“Josh, I - Oh, God, Josh. So sorry. So fucking sorry. Hate me, Josh. Leave me. Fucking fuck-up is all I am.”

Josh has gotten about four of these kinds of phone calls. All late at night.

These phone calls make Josh nervous.

It’s a good thing Drake Bell can’t hold his liquor, and in consequence chooses not to drink very often. Otherwise, Josh may have heard too much of what he didn’t want to hear from a wasted, guilty Drake.

1. Drake Bell loves. So much.

Drake loves music. All music. He loves playing it, listening it, writing it, watching it. It’s kind of sexy, Josh thinks, to watch Drake love something so unconditionally and so dedicatedly.

Drake loves his fans. Every single one of them. Even the crazies. He will sit at a meet-and-greet for hours, waiting for every single person in line to come up to him, get an autograph, snap a picture and have a ten second conversation with him. Josh thinks it’s sweet of Drake to withstand it all (not that Josh wouldn’t himself, just he knows that by the third hour his attitude would be shot and he’d just start improvising jokes - some probably not very appropriate for a meet-and-greet crowd).

Drake loves his co-actors. He hangs out with them off set all the time, chatting away, pulling pranks, getting into mischief, having spontaneous mini concerts. All sorts of non-diva activities that make Josh proud to be Drake’s lover best friend.

Drake loves his family. And not just his blood family, but the family created through all his old shows and all his old co-actors. Drake and Amanda go out to lunch all the time, and Drake and Miranda are pretty much brother and sister.

Josh is so glad that he is one of these people. He’s been so close to Drake for so long, it sometimes seems as though he’s living the Drake & Josh plot line. Two boys, put together (sort of) against their will. They become friends, best friends, brothers. Josh would even go as far as to say that the fictional Drake and Josh could possibly be in a secret relationship, due to the fact that Drake and Josh often reflected their emotions for each other while acting.

Josh figured it made sense.

Drake Bell also loved him, Josh Peck. And Josh knew this because, well, firstly because Drake had told him.

And not just as Josh was bringing him to completion after hours of foreplay and dirty talk (although that happened frequently as well).

But, honest, to the face, straight out said it. And Josh had said it back.

Drake loved Josh.

Drake didn’t love Jerry.

Josh had to believe that these were the truths. Because otherwise, Josh’s world - already teetering on its side - would come crashing down so hard.
