Everywhere I go today there's an atmosphere of quiet astonishment. Part of that it undoubtedly due to the fact that in the middle of the coldest winter for several years it's not pleasant getting up to watch a 5am game. I actually bought my father an English t-shirt for his birthday (at the start of the World Cup) because I thought he'd get more use out of it than an Australian one. Pragmatism vs patriotism :)

It's kind of weird, everybody knows the highlights (even me) but it's hard to get together to watch matches like would happen for ordinary football - the cafeteria at Centrelink opened at 5am today, Ian did *not* go to work that early!

Angus is having half a day today at High School - he'll be there next year. I'm having freak-out thoughts - Holly will be 18 in half her life again... On the plus side of time a 1gb storage device can be slung around my neck rather than take up long corridors of platters. It's a weird day.
